I hope the set goes for at least $160 when I sell it thirty years from now. I'm going to stare at it a couple times a month until that day comes and soak in all of the reverse proofy goodness.

What with inflation and falling confidence in the dollar, that $160 might just end up covering the postage when you sell your coins in thirty years... ;)

^In that amount of time they could be worth just 2 new dollars, where each new dollar = 100 Trillion old dollars.

Does anyone know where I can find a thread that talks about how much the 2012 SF sets might be worth? I thought I would find it here, but after reading 9 pages I only found about 6 posts that mentioned it.

Yes, here you will only find your own sarcasm you offered this thread, far from the topic you purport to be here to talk about... Try harder to stay on topic why don't you. :thumb:

Also, the number of pages in a thread you view is based on how many posts per page you have selected to see in your settings. For me the page count has just gotten to the fourth page.

No much; I've been spending a lot of my time in India these days.

Yes, this thread has spun out of control a little bit. It is currently selling for over $200 on ebay and I'm guessing on it reaching $250 in the next couple of months. I'm counting the reselling of the mint set and not slabbed versions of the set, which will probably go higher. Some of the folks are hoping for a bigger payday but I'm not seeing it.

India? What brings you there (especially in the worse monsoon season they've had in 50 years). Are you doing like that movie "Outsourced"?

Regardless of where prices wind up with this set, it turned out to be a winner, as the sales were far below predictions. Since the mintage is basically the same as the 2006 set, the value of the 2006 set is a good indicator of where the 2012 set will go. Since I too thought sales would be higher, I only bought one set and with hindsight wish I had bought a few more. But still, most of the money I budget for silver bullion collectables is going to the 5oz P ATB’s, as I like their mintages much more than the ASE’s and feel they’re a much nicer series to collect. If/when demand increases for the ATB’s, where do you think their prices will go, based on their mintages?

I see the "lack of buzz" over these will hold prices down as much as the higher mintage. Last years set was hot in large part over the controversy over the quick sellout. A lot of collectors I know view this years set as a yawner.

I was here to talk about the topic, but saw that the thread was ruined long before I got here. Since I saw that there were few relevant posts on the stated topic, and that you had already chased away many of the people who wanted to discuss it, I saw no reason to stay on (the non-existent) topic. And my sarcasm was also a pointed jab at you and others who's only purpose in most of these threads to to downplay or ridicule others. :thumb:

And your point is?? Oh yeah, you are making an attempt to discredit me so that you look better. In reality, the number of pages is totally irrelevant, as the number of posts is the same regardless of how many posts per page you choose as your personal setting. My point was that there were numerous pages (124 posts, if you must) prior to my post, and that many were not on-topic.

This set was just not hyped up like last years, I myself only found out about it a few weeks before it closed. That being said just because there was no hype does not mean the set will not be a long term success. The craze continues on the graded 70's and as long as it does it will lift lower grades and non-graded (kept in mint packaging) sets with it.

    Short term non-graded $179-$199
    Long term non-graded (5+years) $250-$350

I actually find his antics pretty amusing actually. He did the same for the 25th anniversary release. But yeah, as far as thread derailment goes, it's (more than) a bit over the top.
