I must be drunk - but I've ordered 15 sets in total (13 sets feel a bit weird and 15 is matching with the number of my 25th anniversary sets I have) :dead-horse: (the donkey is my wallet)!

I like your analogy and that's how I felt about it. I certainly wouldnt have ordered this 2012 set if I didnt have the 2011 set.

I got lucky last year with being able to order a set directly from the mint. I hope I'm lucky again and this 2012 set retains its value at least.

I wouldn't know how to explain purchasing that many sets to my wife. Please share your secret. :)

I think you are just practicing to become a dealer. Fifteen 2011 sets is quite a nice stash to have.

I ordered 30. 20 on the first day, and 10 yesterday. I'll probably only end up keeping 5 or so though. Storing those boxes is a pita, but you'd be a fool to get rid of them.

Wow; there are some heavy hitters on here. I feel really small-time now.

why is that? I'm only going to keep 5. Because you can cherrypick the coins to send for grading, you'd be a fool to send everything if the coin isn't perfect. My original plan was to submit 10 sets for grading so I can get 5 sets of 70s. The other 15 sets are simply going to be dumped on ebay. I'd have to net around $170 to break even, which shouldn't be hard to do.

The last 10 sets was an impulse buy. Since the ship date on those is all the way in october, I have enough time to see what the sales trend is going to be doing, then decide if I want to keep the order to sell for the christmas season.

Anyone think that they will start shipping very shortly? I think they maybe just wanted to wait until the order window closed before sending out any sets. I guess we'll see...

Hahaha, in that case, at least young at heart!

So, when do we know the final mintage then?

Mint websites states there will be an update tomorrow.

I don't know, hope it works out for the speculators, but with all the sets ordered, they should be cheap for awhile on eBay, maybe even lower than issue price. If so, I'll pick some more up there, if they're in the sealed shipping box.

I might be in the minority but I think that the set will increase in value. Also, since the set won't ship until the end of October, I couldn't think of any downside to getting two more sets. I can always cancel them when I see the after market price over the next three months.

If the mintage number is between 250-300k total, and the percentage of non-dealers buying 15 to 30 sets, we can likely conclude the actual mintage numbers by demand should have been closer to the 200k mark more than likely.

But it doesn't matter to me, I don't buy because they'll increase in value over time, I buy because I just like collecting since any coin that enters my collection is never sold.

Mint site says update of final tally by 3 PM ET tomorrow, the 6th.

Today's update was at 2. I wonder how many have been ordered in the last 3 hours of sales.
