This is my 2nd piece of 8, with what I think is very attractive toning. It is graded by PCGS.

I think I caught the reverse, but I missed most of the obverse. It is much more blue.

Picked these 2 toners up last week. These are the seller's pics, as they are much better than I can produce.:)

    Toned? Yes.

    Attractive? Um....not so much! :)

I'll post it anyway. :) I've had this one for a long time, but just took new images today.

If you haven't seen the "T" on the label before, see this thread: http://www.cointalk.com/t208532/

    Wow nice 1940!!!:thumb:
Since Canada has ended 1c coin I have had 8-10 people ask about set singles+ any Canada copper!!
1c Canada coins and set are selling almost as good 1958 wheat+1959LMC as the 2009 Av Lincoln cent
    were in 2009.
so buy now if you can before all the good ones are gone and your buying culls

Definitely a strange toning pattern. As you can see the obverse is mostly steel blue and orange, and the reverse is similarly toned (this is from the Ike album)

I had to post this group of toned 1961 Proof Lincoln's. I have a few more to add to it in the next month or so. What a monster year 1961 was.

Here's a recent pickup that I think qualifies for this thread ;) Just a stunning coin with spectacular color that I couldn't pass up the opportunity to buy it. Tried to capture it in my cell phone shots below and although I didn't quite get the full power of the coin, it gives you an idea of the coin's beauty:

    Mike,

I think this coin is a very interesting piece indeed. These days, it seems that every blue toned piece of copper is considered the product of an MS70 coin cleaner application. Now I don't know when MS70 was first created, but your coin resides in a PCGS OGH which was used from 1990-1995 according to Conder's slab history thread. I would think it very unlikely that this coin was treated with MS70 that many years ago.

It makes you wonder how many originally toned blue IHC's have been condemned to basically AT status unfairly. FWIW, I never cared whether this color scheme was the result of MS70, I have seen them in hand and they are phenomenal. Great coin! Nice to see you posting around here my friend!
