Ha! "...go BIG...!" Anyhow, yeah 2010s are all over the place. I looked at a few before picking the best of the bunch, for maybe $65. I'm thinking about getting a 2nd 2011 set...not sure. 2012 might be a real shocker, however, if they do 999 on the set, since IMHO the quarters are 90%, no?
Schnauzer I know you are very proud of your 2011 set and it's an accomplishment I could never do. BIB94z, FYI he has the #1 2011 set in the country. I was only able to find some mention of it on page 31 of this thread. I would really like to see it again. As for not owning any 11s in government packaging, I do. The one that come to mind are my 5 A25s in the sealed OGP. As for the key race I believe it could become a 3way race. This year the mint has been ignoring normal release dates and nobody is quite sure what they are up to. I think they are capable of changing production to demand only, or even ending the 2012 silver proof set short of a 12 month run. Considering these possibilities, the 2012 could be the rarest by far. But who Knows?
Very YAK of you to say... "WHO KNOWS?!" Yes, for those who are frustrated with the mint, let me say that it's the "what if's" that make all this interesting! It's hard to think in the aftermath of the A25 sets 2012 could be as exciting...but it just may be! Will the spouses and/or ATB pucks suffer some cruel fate? Will silver proofs be 999? Will pennies disappear or fall from heaven? Oh, and I also wanna see schnauzer's 70 set again
99.99% is really something to get excited about and look forward to! i checked on the mint release date the other day. i really dislike buying coins on ebay. granted i have gotten some deals on there but have also been burned by pictures. I'm sure you guys have as well. Any who, i need to find a local dealer to make a relationship with for a more hands on approach. 2schnauzers2luv that is a awesome set you slabbed man. It was very cool to see those and congrats on being tied for number 1. Thanks for the information/advice. It's much appreciated
Wait. Are some Silver Eagles 90 percent silver? I only have one, a 1995. It looks and feels a lot like something different from the 90% junk silver I own, but I don't know. As long as there's an ounce of silver in there, I don't care really.
This thread has been dead for 10 days. Wow. Time to get loosened up and get busy gang. Sales for the 2011 Silver Proof Set have increased somewhat, but the pace is still in the crawling mode. For the two week period beginning April 9th and ending April 20th, sales totaled 1,393. That brings the new sales total to 558,608 which is 26,806 sets below the 2010 final sales number of 585,414. Watch and wait I guess.
For the past year or so, I've been picking up "full rim" Barber dimes, quarters and halves in Good-4. Usually coin shops just have these sitting around in a small box, loose, collecting dust. I've talked to a few dealers and they've said that they just don't have the time to package these and display them in holders to sell, especially with them having such a low grade. Some dealers are waiting for silver to climb again and these dusty boxes of Barbers are going to be sent to the smelter. It's my understanding that many were sent off when silver broke the $40 barrier months ago. Makes me think FREE MONEY. Right now I have 26 halves, 32 quarters and 53 dimes in Good-4 full rims and better. I am finding many coins in these "Junk" boxes that grade G4, G6, VG8, VG10 and even a few Fines. With these being purchased at melt or a few cents over, makes me think FREE MONEY. That's just taking in to consideration melt value. When you discover a 1913-S half in VG and you're paying between $11 and $12, now you're talking collector value too. Especially with that particular half being valued in the $21 to $25 dollar range. Not everything bearing the title of junk is necessarily that. There are some great values to be found if you'll just look. And what's more fun than the thrill of "The Hunt" in this hobby? I just think IF these low grade Barbers are actually headed to the melting pots eventually, why not pick up a few. The dimes, quarters and halves are in the $2.25, $6.00 and $11.50 ranges respectfully and are very affordable. Pick up a few here, a few there, a few today and a few later. You'll be surprised at how many Barbers you've obtained in a short period of time and it won't be a big hit on your wallet. Which, in essence, makes me think FREE MONEY! So, as always, you folks can say yea or nea. But this is what I've been doing and been having fun while doing it. Just thought I'd share.
NGC Collectors Society has it listed at $692.50. I thought it was higher than that, but guess I was wrong.
I got a "Like" from him about a week ago, so he's around. Green18 said awhile back, that Yak was on a mission. So I don't know. Might be just stepping back away from coins for a short while and taking a breather. I do that occassionally. Then when I come back to them I'm more excited than ever. :hail:
