Got an e-mail from them this morning regarding that, TC, saying they'd be processing my subscription in about 4 weeks.
I did not get that email. However, they did send me an email today about the ASE proof and hitting my CC in 4 weeks. TC
Sorry TC, I mis-read your post and assumed we were talking 'eagles'. The ASE proofs e-mail I got, not the siver proof.....
I take that to mean that 2011 set will remain on sale at least that long or until stock is depleted (fat chance!). But now we know the mint is just fine with waiting for half the year to go by without bothering to issue that year's set. I expect this is a sign that they are comfy cozy with the idea of running them for sale well past the start of each successive year. 2011 could very well make its run to the last day of this year ... or, *sigh*, even longer?! Also noteworthy...no mention of .999 planchet use. I fully expect this set will be .90, as usual.
I've been wondering that myself. The thread just isn't the same without our Leader. I have some new numbers but was waiting to see if he was going to post. I just can't post those great replys like he can. I'm thinking maybe he decided to sell off all the silver proof sets he's accumulated over the years, that he got for melt or below, and is now very busy laughing all the way to the bank.
He's most likely hit 'Mega Millions' and reading these posts while luxuriating on a beach in Tahiti.........
Meant to ask that myself Kittrell. Nothing spectacular with gold or silver as of this writing. Maybe pork bellies is up?
Here are the latest numbers thru March 16th. There were only 743 of the 2011 Silver Proof Sets sold. That is the lowest number of sales ever for this set in a weeks time. That brings the new total to 555,618. The 2011 sets are 29,796 behind the 2010 sales figure, which was 585,414. Since January 3rd of this year, the average weekly sales for the 2011 Sets are 1,093. At least now we know when the scheduled release date for the 2012 sets are. June 4th. Our good friend TopCat brought us that breaking news yesterday. :hail: I'm sure the mint will continue selling the 2011's to a sellout. Question is, how many did they make? Answer is, Who Knows?
Since I have a birth set in hand, "minted and issued under authority of 31 U.S.C. 5112 (for what it's worth)
Congrats on snagging a set. Always nice to pick one up every now and then. I noticed in the area where I live, some dealers are breaking the set up by selling the individual lenses. I bought the lense that contained the cent, nickel, dime, half and Sac. dollar for $30. And Welcome to the forum! We're glad to have you here!
Got some new sales numbers for the 2011 Silver Proof Set. Last weeks sales were 483 sets. Another new low. That brings the new total to 556,101. 29,313 behind the 2010 total of 585,414. Interest in the set seems to be diminishing as customers are stocking up on new products. However, diminished interest doesn't take away from the low mintage value and status the 2011 Set currently carries. Speaking of new products, I just read a few minutes ago where a customer ordered one of the new 2012 Birth Year Sets. The Kennedy Half was a 2012 Silver Proof. Huh? It's already on EBAY. 5 days left in the auction and it's already bid up to $61.00. Wow. Must be where the term FREE MONEY comes from. Mint News Blog
Yeah, I bet the "silver" is a BIG mistake. For $19.95 total, the mint should not be giving 'em away like that. Will somebody at least get a talking to?
I just saw an ad on the television that will FREE me of my MONEY! It was a Tribute Proof 1933 Gold Double Eagle! It explained how the one it is making a tribute to will always be the one and only (not that I believe it will, because the government could agree to auction them or something) as if it is a selling point, and it is like the tribute proof gold buffalo, a whole 14 milligrams of gold! Just had to say it...
Will both the silver and the clad sets be likely keys or is this limited to just the silver proofs????
Sales for the 2011 Silver Proof Set continue at a snails pace. For the week ending March 30th, 549 sets were sold. That brings the new sales total to 556,650. Sales for this set are still 28,764 behind the 2010 Silver Proof Set. Wait and see I guess. So, anyone know of any other numismatic products that might fall under the theme of Free Money that can be discussed here? If so, please share. Unfortunately, I'm starting to feel this thread is running low on fuel.
