1959 to 1981 copper pennies, what would be the best way to get something out of these???? Sold them last time on ebay and took a beating. I have 50+ pounds of them, should i trade them for other coins, are people really that into these???

try and see who is interestedf here on cointlak. you can list your own price instead of getting beat on ebay. there is a for slae section toward the bottom in the forum section. best of luck. if you cant sell it all at once try selling a little at a time, best of lcuk my good sir

I would just put it on eBay with a Buy It Now price of 2x face and the longest time period. Somebody should buy it.

Being that you can still find them in rolls and circulation, you may be waiting a little while for that buyer to come along. Plus, it is still illegal to melt them, so you could hang on to them for a few years if you have the room.

yea. you need to hold on to them. the only person i'd see interested is some apocalyptic types who want some coin when the world ends, but don't have the time now to separate their pennies.

honestly there's not a ton of money to be made with the penny hoarding, but some. my guess is that, unless you are really filling warehouses with these, the average individual might make 5 to 10k at most. and that is a after building a super labor intensive hoard. personally, i'd rather get a part time job and buy some ase coins.

Doesn't mean the melt ban won't be lifted. And it will be, at some point.
Hang on to as many as you can, that's about all I can suggest. I've sold them on ebay too, at $50 face lots, not really worth it. After fees and shipping, I think I made $5-10 on the 2 boxes. I think the issue is, sure, they're worth 2.5 cents each, but nobody really cares and there's little interest.

Because I can get the same pennies at the bank for face value. Why would I buy them from you for more? ;)

here's my little collection :D I like to reroll them, then fill boxes and tape them closed. That way I know exactly how many I have and they are easy to move if I need to move them
