I am looking to purchase a little gold. Thinking if selling the silver I got from roll searching to get it. Everywhere I look has CRAZY premiums. I can understand a $5-12 premium for gov't issued builion, but these people are going for $20+ premiums for a 1/20 ounce. That kind of premium in my mind is only justified with an ounce or more. Thanks for any advice you can give! --Rob.
Well that just plain ol' sucks! I mean, why even make a piece like a 20th or 10th ounce if you are gonna slap such a premium on it?! Make's it hard for us poor folk who need to buy an ounce in graduations.
To appeal to all budget levels. Sure a 20th oz. piece is affordable, but you will pay more for that fractional just to have a taste. Think about it, how much more would you spend for 20x 1/20 oz. golds to just going out and buying a 1 oz. round? It's a substantial amount. And it's smart marketing by all the vendors and the mints. Stackers will still buy them, it doesn't matter the size.
If you bargain hunt in ebay you can actually get 1/20 ounce coins for around $90-$100 still there is premium but about the same you would find for 1/10 oz.
Well I don't think they do it all for you!! lol Almost everything works that way. As it costs more per to make a small amount and ship it. Look at Costco vs a gas station. Either save up for a larger purchase or pay a premium.
This is why I've just not been interested in buying gold... the price itself is high enough, then they tack on the premiums.
Maybe, if you want to buy one 1/20 per week, try putting that money away for 20 weeks, then buy a one ouncer. Problem solved!
try some british virgin island coins. there are a bunch that are .2054 oz net. made by franklin mint but have .900 fine right on the coin so easy sale also. can be had very close to spot. make sure your not geting .500 fine , they also make those. that's as small as I like to go. i usually save and just buy larger coins
Franklin Mint issues' usually go cheap even some RCM NCLTs sell close to spot, that said right know there is to many buyers in the market so it is hard to bargain hunt for coins.
