    I didn't, and probably should've, but I didn't have any to sell.

I was at that big show in Tucson and sold opened 2 sets for $625 each, and had to negotiate hard for the dealers to pay that. In one case I pointed out the set on the grey sheet. Three dealers said no to $625. I saw those sets at the show for $850, but I'll bet they didn't sell. I see sets for sale in local shops, and I see them each week I visit. But I assume you're talking about a different town for your LCS than Tucson.

No. The 4 shops I looked at all were out, 1 on Grant, 2 on Speedway and one on Oracle and Orange Grove. I didn't check out any others, and didn't ask for them, just looked to see if they had them on display and what they were asking. I wasn't in the market for them, just poking around to see what was available.

Every year I spend from the middle of Jan to the middle of Feb in Tucson and check out that show and a few of the shops. I'm not sure if it's normal, but if you want bullion other than generics, you have to ask and they almost always go to the back to get stock. With as hot as bullion is right now, it doesn't make much sense to me, but it's their business and I hope they know what they're doing.

I'm with you 100% on that.

I let two "raw" sets go at the FUN show. $625 (per) was the high offer (which I took) and $575 was the low ball.

I hope you bought your full allotment of 5 and now have a new cost of the 3 kept of $260 for all 3. Big time win in my book without any headaches of ebay or other "ifs or maybes".

I did buy 5 but parted with two @ $675 and the FUN ones for what I mentioned above. I sold the first two at a local show last November when the market was hot. That essentially (almost) paid the credit card bill for the purchase at the mint. The two "Orlandos" funded my classic commem purchases at FUN. :) One lonely set remains in my possession. He misses his brothers and sisters but he's happy to see his commemorative relations growing in numbers.......:)

Perfect, you own the one you probably actually want and bought some other commems that they paid for. #winning

I like all silver sets, but really don't like coins that take up room with collectors boxes, I like to stack silver in tubes not have five ounces take up the same amount of room that I could fit 30 ounces.

You sure you buy bullion? Those 5oz bullion pucks come in tubes of 10 for a total of 50ozs per tube.

I was talking about the 25th anv set as being a waste of space.

Forget the original packing, slabbed they take up very little space.

dont you guys think with everyone slabbing there will be increasing demand in mint packaged sets. i have not even opened by box of 5. i was thinking of slabbing but thought look at the old gsa morgans. now people paw premium to have original mint packages.?

I kept my five sets in the unopened box for about a month or so then decided I'd get 'em graded. Glad I did. They're beautiful. I enjoy examining them arranging sets, stacking them.
Looking at them under high magnification. I wasn't getting much enjoyment thinking about increasing value of the sealed box. Guess for these coins I'm a collector first.
Should've bought two orders one sealed OB and the other to enjoy.

You're probably right about the sealed boxes increasing in value.

I agree with the sealed boxes ending up the probable winner in all of this. With the TPGs grading about half of them as mso or pf 70, what's the point of getting them graded...or how is a 70 something out of the ordinary? It's not so OGP will most likely wind up the home run. Just my opinion and your results may vary...

I used to like all of my stuff in OGP, if possible. Then I bought a 2009 AGE UHR w/ the big beautiful lacquered box. Run out of storage. Slabbed coins are easy for me to handle, organize and store.

To quote my brother that's why they make multiple flavors of ice cream so people can choose what works for them.

I don't disagree, just stated my opinion on which will get the highest return. In the end, to each their own, or as we used to say in the car business, thier is a butt for every seat, you just need to find the right one...

No I don't agree. You can alway free your slabbed coin and put it back in it's OGP with this set. So I see no reason for them to demand a premium IMO.

On a side note...why would GUANO like that post as he stated he does not like the packaging on any bulky coin? lol
