Haven't been following the eBay prices much lately, but here's some pricing information from the Long Beach show concerning these sets.

Most dealers are paying $700 per raw set. Similarly, a graded set of 69s is also going for around $700 if you're a seller (everyone knows a 69 graded set can be turned into a raw set in a few minutes so it would never go for less than a raw set!). Dealers are selling raw sets for around $800 each and 69 sets for around $850, doesn't seem to matter if those 69 sets are PCGS or NGC or whether they are First Strike, Early Releases or whatever...

Sets of coins graded 70 are a different story... Dealers seem to want to pay around $1250 or so for a PCGS set graded 70 and for NGC 70s the best offer I got was $1000/set. Dealers are selling PCGS 70 sets for around $1450-$1500 and selling NGC 70 sets for $1300-$1350 or so. For the 70s, First Strike and Early Releases seems to matter, but only a very little. Maybe a couple of percent less if you don't have those designations.

I sold the following NGC graded 25th Anniversary ASE coins at the show, none of them had the Early Release label:

    Graded NGC 69 sets @ $700 each
    2011-P Reverse Proofs in NGC PF70 @ $400 each
    2011-S uncs in MS70 @ $275 each

I'm pretty sure those prices I sold at seem to be roughly 5-10% less than the going rates on eBay for the same coins as of the last I checked. I was happy to sell at the show for those prices since that saved me the work and fees of having to sell them on my own.

Any idea what the reverse proof and s uncirculated were selling for at PF/MS 69?

Wow Illini. So they are trending back up. :)

Me? I'm happy (almost embarrassed) at what I received for my sets. Took that 'money made' and turned it around to finance my humble classic commem endeavor. Love it when a collecting passion can almost pay for itself.........

The ebay price for the 5 unopened box has dropped from $4500 to $4200 in the past few days.

I wasn't really looking for them, but I think the Reverse proofs in 69 were priced around $275-$300, the S-mint uncirculateds were less at about $250, didn't matter which company. Dealers were of course trying to pay less for each. For the S-mint in 69 they were wanting to buy at around $200-$225 and for the reverse proof trying to buy about $225-$250.

Noticed that too Phil. Seemed like a lot of people saw the prices hit 4500-4600 then listed their box. I will have to admit, I was thinking of doing the same thing until I saw so many listed.

Every time some sell these boxes, some also get opened. Sooner or later, that's to the advantage of the patient. Also, time seems to be slowing revealing possible rarities/errors/unique qualities of some of the set coins...so why not let the dust settle for a couple years or more? Multiple possible collectable improvements may be waiting in the wings.

Just a post about a local show I went to today. I went in and asked about buy pricing and not one dealer would give me a price. Every single one asked me to give me what I want, and simply refused to make an offer first. It was weird. Then another guy called a "big dealer" friend and was told he could offer $900 for a 70 set, (NGC early release), and $550 for my mixed sets, (2 of them all 70's except the RP, the other two half 70's with the S being 70).

Pretty disappointed overall, though I know it was a small show. Trying to decide if to wait for a larger show, sell on Ebay, hold on to them, or what. I don't NEED the money, but freeing it up would be nice for European auctions coming up.

I tried to sell some of my mixed sets either at CT or NGC forum (with a possibility to counter offer) and nobody seems to want them :dead-horse: ... why???

Wait for the larger show Chris. Sometimes the 'locals' just ain't tuned in. Remember, I sold two sets at FUN (raw) last month for $625 a piece. A few weeks prior to that I let two go for $675 a piece. The price trended down for me but I believe it will go back up. Heck, the guys that bought the sets from me must be turning them around for something. I mean, nobody is gonna fork over that kind of money for a dead in the water issue. These guys have a feeling the price on these is going to go back up. $550 is a low ball. I had one dealer at FUN offer me $575. Took my wares elsewhere........

I think people on here and other coin related forums want them, but knowing that they missed out on the deal from the mint many people are reluctant to buy the sets at high premiums knowing that you only paid $300 each for the sets. For that they are jealous and not buying your stuffs :)

What price were you looking to sell them at? Maybe you were just asking to much? Have to remember that as much as we all hate it, most of us use Ebay as an indicator of pricing so if you were asking at or near Ebay prices in your ads then they would likely opt for the Ebay purchase as they have "buyer protection" etc. so you need to undercut Ebay prices buy 5-10%.

I think the other factor is that you are selling mixed sets and it makes a BIG difference which coins got which grades. If you have all 70's but the reverse proof and "S" eagle are both 69 or less, then the set is only worth a bit more then a raw set... If your RP and S are 70's then you will get more of a premium for your graded coins.

From what I can see if you really want to make the most out of them just break up the sets and sell them individually, i've seen some stupid prices on standard "UNC" and Proof eagles with the 25th set labels~

Thanks for your response and advice. I really appreciate it. Probably it is better to keep these mixed sets for a while longer than to sell them now.

Looks like for the most part prices are remaining steady, but in a quick Ebay search for "25th anniversary silver eagle set" now only turns out 700 active listings. This has been steadly dropping as it looks like supply is starting to become less available.

I don't have time right now but anyone care to look through the 700 current listings and see how many are actually sets vs. individual coins or just packaging?? :) Sorting by price from highest to lowest shows about 7 1/2 pages of sets, sealed boxes etc. I would venture to guess these are only 400-500 sets on there right now if that...

I believe soon demand will overcome supply like with the 2009 UHR Gold double eagle and we will see these sets go up a few hundred more dollars... getting close to $1000 per raw set in the future~

But Clint, collectors always want one from each year. 2011 will always be the first 5-coin set and the 2012's look to be a 2 or 3 coin set. I don't see 2012 affecting these much at all.

And $1,000 per raw set isn't that far off from where we are currently.

I can see the price for these issues continue to rise, but I think $1000 (raw) is a little far fetched.

    Hope I'm wrong........:)

Can't speak for other people but I would not let my sets go at $1k a piece. Would rather keep them.
