In the box it remains. I call it delayed satisfaction. Can I open it from one step beyond? Let's hope.
Surfin Ebay this evening and noticed that only 806 listings show up when searching "25th anniversary Silver Eagle Set", which is down quite a bit from the 1000+ listings there had been. Maybe it's just a slow night, who knows... Anyhow some completed listing news from the last day or so... Unopened single set in box went for $865 + $25 shipping so $890 total cost for a single set. Unopened boxes of 5 sold for $4549, $4500, $4599 and $4600!! :hail: Opened sets selling between $715-$725 each. PCGS MS/PF70 sets sold for $1550, $1566, $1812 and $1494 NGC MS/PF70 sets sold for $1250, $1395, and $1200
Prices of opened sets shouldn't be any higher than the going rate for PCGS/NGC 69 sets. If the open sets were consistently trading higher than the 69 graded sets, you'd have quite a few folks cracking those 69s out and making them into a raw opened set... I know some dealers already do that with their coins that come back 68 and lower... pretty easy to do and I think most buyers know that. Accordingly, a 69 graded set should sell for more than an opened raw set, not only because of the potential the raw sets are already cracked out non-70s, but also because the opened set should be discounted a little more because it can never get the 25th anniversary set pedigree on all 5 coins.
Yeah I thought I read somebody over here yesterday that was saying the prices on these sets have "crashed" on ebay. I just checked and they haven't changed at all. If anything they've gone up. I guess people will believe whatever they want to believe.
I knew you would be trolling soon........... And that might be a discount for THEM, but that's the price NGC 70's have been selling at for a while.
You don't add much to the conversation by calling people trolls. This is a price watch topic, so I gave a price. If you think I am breaking rules, then report me to the CoinTalk staff. I've posted updates about this particular set several times in this topic. This set was selling for $2995 before Christmas. This is a 58% drop in price since then.
man i would love to gert my hand on one of those To bad i can't afford them (one of those sets is more than 50% of my monthly paycheck)
+1 Thanks for keeping things on topic - while a few sets sold over $2K NGC 70 sets have been in the $1150-$1250 range since Christmas. I also just got an Email from Apmex advertising PCGS MS/PF70 First Strike sets for $1495 which at last look they had about 57 of. Prices seem pretty stagnant now although the tend on Ebay seems to be up a little for the 70 graded coins.
I did a little research tonight and found that the last 15 completed sales of NGC70 sets on ebay averaged $1245.00 each, with a low of $1101.00 and a high of $1395.00 and the last 10 completed sales of NGC69 sets on ebay averaged $743.00 each, with a low of $679.00 and a high of $810.00.
