for silver it's hard to beat Westminster Mint. they make a real nice 5oz bar of their own and have a wide selection of other generics.

Different dealers are better for different things. Here are my top 5:

Provident Metals -- better for raw bullion of the U. S. and many world mints

Modern Coin Mart -- better for slabbed bullion of the U. S. and many world mints

Mint Products -- better for raw bullion of the U. S. and many world mints

Gainesville Coins -- better for raw bullion of the U. S. and many world mints

APMEX -- good for both raw and slabbed bullion of the U. S. and many world mints when they are running 1 of their sales.

Gainesville and APMEX typically have the highest shipping costs, but Gainesville usually has the lowest item price on a cash basis.

Another dealer some use is Paradise Mint. They deal mostly in slabbed coins and offer free shipping, although, as we know, very little is free.

These dealers handle some generic bullion also, but that is not my area of interest, so I am not up on it.

Has a pretty high minimum order size, 20 oz gold, 500 oz silver, full bank bag ($1000 face) junk silver, etc. Very clear on premium costs.

If you are going to drop $35K+ on some gold, a good place to consider.

Colorado gold operates in a similar manner but has lower minimums and they only deal in bullion.

Using Goldshark.. I punched in about 8 different items I could be interested in... and Gainsville coins had the best or second best price 75% of the time.

Other than taking 2-3 weeks to receive my shipment (mail the check, receive the check, wait til it clears, wait some more, then they ship the package) I was very happy with Provident. The shipping charges are clear and upfront, which isn't always the case with some of these bullion websites. I also liked that you can order as much or as little as you want in $1 face increments.

Only guys I have experience with.

Would only buy bullion from within Canada so it's perfect for me. My last order I got within 6 business days. Shipping never seems to exceed $30; free shipping is also available on large orders. Member of the BBB and a GATA certified dealer.

I buy all kinds of stuff at bullionstacker.com. It's peer to peer, but save myself all kinds of money over the etailers, for the most part.
