Well yakpoo, you made be jump in at the last moment with just 25 minutes left on the clock. I bit on both the 2010 and 2011 proofs even though I already had the Silver ones. You should hit on the mint to give you commision on all the CT membership orders.
It's Official...the "Last Opportunity" link is gone and all the 2010 Annual products are listed as "Sold Out". Thanks for playing along...:hail:
These comparisons are particularly enlightening. Check the premiums, or lack thereof, on 1962 mint sets and 1958 proof sets. (The 1958 proofs apparently carry a small premium in book value, but is anybody seeing it in actual closing prices?)
Seeing this thread reminded me to check with my mom to see if she had gotten my order confirmation email and shipping number yet. It turns out that she never finished the checkout process and only had the items in her shopping cart. The only place around here that might possibly have them will be the only local coin shop. The only problem is that the owner charges insane premiums on almost everything. For example his Silver Eagles are $8 above spot. It's looking like that or risking my luck with ebay are my only options now. Either way I'll have to pay a premium now.
Actually, with the price of silver as low as it is, I doubt you'll have to pay a premium at all...not for a while, anyway.
I got my two sets that I bought off ebay in the mail today. The first 2010 looks pretty good, better than the ones I got from the mint myself. The second was still in the sealed mint shipping box and I opened it to look at it and found out it is a 2011 silver proof set and not the 2010!
A)...How does it look? B)...Hold tight...the 2011 sets could take over 1st place in the Key Date Race! Stay tuned...I plan to do weekly updates as the sales numbers come in.
I think you should call the Mint and ask for a replacement. I am sure they will understand and realize their mistake for as long as you are sure that you ordered the right product. On the hand, you should feel lucky since you just earn ~$3 for free - the 2010 is 64.xx whilst the 2011 is ~67.yy ;-)
Agreed. I doubt the 2010 sets will spike soon and instead provide plentiful opportunity for late arrivals to parachute onto the deck of this already sailed ship.... Be vigilant, I'm confident such patience will be rewarded.
Forget about the Iowa caucus! Forget about the New Hampshire caucus! I say, "YAKPOO FOR PRESIDENT"!:thumb:
To quote the famous William Tecumseh Sherman... "If nominated, I will not run; if elected, I will not serve" :too-cool-for: (but thanks for asking)
Curious how long it took you guys to receive your sets from the mint? I was sent the shipment confirmation on the 26th, but with 3 tracking numbers? None of which seem to be valid. I'm not really concerned that I have not received them yet. Just curious about the tracking numbers.
Immediately after the sales deadline hit for this set on Friday, I went on EBAY and put the first few sets I could find on my Watch List. So, the sets sold for these amounts: 61.51, 58.00, 60.00, 65.01, 69.99, 60.05 and 61.00. Average was 62.22 The low on the shipping was free and the high was 6.00. Average=2.79. There was an 8th set with the starting bid set at 59.00, but nobody bid on it and it ended. Someone had mentioned earlier that they might have to try EBAY in order get theirs. Might not be a bad idea.
I think the underwhelming prices on eBay so far may be influenced by timing (holiday season), lower spot prices of silver bullion is past few weeks, and a declining interest in US Mint products including the annual sets. I am just glad I got mine at $56.95 back in 2010. TC
