Okay, should have been more clear, that's a couple billion in U.S. dollars. So this trillion dollar note wouldn't even be worth wiping my behind with.. ;)

In 2009 when that note was printed, the currency collapsed and everyone's accounts in banks, financial institutions, or holding any investment denominated in these dollars went to $0. The hyperinflation period hit, just like the mathematicians and historians indicate, very quickly and only took from August 2008 to Feb 2009 to complete its course. Previously they had printed a Trillion dollar note and previous to that, they had lopped 3 zeros off the prior currency.

Of course those with silver and gold had no worries about this.

Those dollars are not completely worthless now. They have some numismatic value amongst collectors as a reminder of the folly of fiat money systems.

I understand, I was being sarcastic but being someone who doesn't collect such things, toilet paper is worth more to me still. ;)

Hey silverstruck, if you really want silver, can I recommend just buying it in 1000 oz Delivery Bars? ;)

I agree that having all of yoru wealth in a paper currency is folly, but do not underestimate the value of using paper as currency for transactions. Most people strongly prefer it over PM's. I know its not evident from this board, but there is a reason paper money became so accepted and used when people had the option of using gold and silver coins. So in one way I agree that its not a good long term store of value, (obviously), yet it is a tremendous convenience to most of the public. The true folly of Zimbabwe is allowing such a zenophobic disaster of a dictator utterly destroy one of Africa's former great economies. Zimbabwe used to be the great breadbasket of Africa until Mugabe made being successful a crime, now it is much more equal, EVERYONE in the country now lives in complete destitution except for the political cronies.

I'm OK with paper currency. Silver & gold certificate dollars were used for more than a century in the USA without issue. It's the folly of fiat currency that make the Zimbabwe dollar interesting. Ironically, I believe that particular $ was made of some sort of plastic.

I am going Thursday to buy 2000 dollars worth. I have arranged it with a local dealer close to me. She treats me good on my purchases. I have a couple of guys I am fixing to order from, so my answer is YES I am buying. I dont want any of them zim dollars though LOL . I am going to try and find good deals on Ebay with the other 3k i have set aside. they seem outrageous though, even on 90 percent rolls of halves and dollars?

Temporarily, remember Peter said he wanted to correct the issue after Holidays by combining them. Quite considerate I think, as the others could just be banned. Don't encourage others to make more IDs , even if not intended.

Unfortunately, there are many new members who imitate others when they think something is cool, not that it is the intention of the "others". We have even had members who find that with several IDs they can praise and promote themselves ( including contests and giving "likes"), so we try to keep it to a minimum, and only in cases such as yours.

    I thought the phrase "
", might indicate you thought it was a fun thing to be. My apologies.

Anyone who cannot admit they have had at least a few bad posts is either a liar or delusional. We all have posts we wish we could take back. :)
