Sorry, I was responding to 'Buck' when he referred to #68693xxx. This number is way too high. I think he meant #38393xxx

oops. You would think I would have that number burned into my head. 3839
On a sidenote, I know there are thousands out there waiting for these sets yet. Either we are an isolated small number on these forums or most are lurking. I would like to here input from all those lurkers out there. Any notices? Any calls made to the mint?
I'm anxious to see what next week brings.

I got this email on 11/08/2011

    Dear United States Mint Customer,

Thank you so much for your interest in the American Eagle 25[SUP]th[/SUP] Anniversary Silver Coin Set.
Due to overwhelming demand, the product reached its production limit in sales quickly and the United States Mint accepted a limited number of orders on a waiting list in the event that products became available due to order cancellations.
At this time, we can only confirm that your order is on the waiting list. As we continue to process orders for the American Eagle 25[SUP]th[/SUP] Anniversary Silver Coin Set, there may be cancellations that allow us to fulfill some portion of the waiting list orders.
Should we be able to fulfill your order, you will receive a shipping confirmation notification from us once your order has been shipped. If your order will not be processed, you will receive an order cancellation notification confirming this when your order is cancelled from our system.

I went back to my email dates after seeing yours. On 10-31, I received the backorder email you show as getting on 11-14. I also received an email from the mint on 11-14 but it didn't contain the greetings portion, just the lower five lines with an updated backorder number. I haven't received the waiting list email that you go at all.

The same for me too, no "waiting list" email. Just an acknowledgement on 10/27/11 saying:

"Thank you, we have received your order. Please do not"
disclose your order receipt number. If for any reason your
order cannot be processed, we reserve the right to cancel.
Inventory may not be available to fill orders placed under a
"wait list" notice. Orders placed before the published on-
sale time will not be accepted. Orders containing several
items may be filled in multiple shipments. Registered users
may track their order at www.usmint/catalog. Guest users

NOTE: Now the lastest update is:

2 units backordered. Expected to ship on 12/11/2011.
I hope "we all" get some good news this week. I sincerely feel bad for those who already received the "Dear John Letter". IMO...The Mint should have been able to accomodate those who made the deadline with at least 1 set for their collection regardless of mintage limits.

I too hope that people get their sets but we know many will not. There is a limit of 100k and when they are given out they are out.
As for "at lest 1 set for their collections" that should have been decided in the beginning. And they should not change the limit mid stream.

To Coinperson and btbglb52 ~ you will both have your orders filled because you received the "backorder" email. You went from waiting list to backorder list between the two emails. This is my experience, and my set is scheduled to arive Monday morning before 12 PM.

(I'm thinking about waiting until Christmas morning to open Mint box, unless I hear a lot of rattling.)

So as long as you got a backordered email you'll get yours?
    Yippie.
But time will tell before I get to excited.

Hi Duke ~ I think I've got it figured out . . . as long as you are backordered, the Mint is still assembling sets, you are queued for a fullfillment but the delay last week, I think was because sets are still coming together. That's my guess. Airraid said the mint told him(her) that there are still lots of orders yet to be fullfilled. I'm pulling for all you guys(and gals)!

    Numismania You hockey puck!!

My order, at 5:20pm, DID FINALLY go from 'backordered' to 'in stock/reserved' on Friday. 20 mins later, showed 'shipped' with tracking number, scheduled for a Tuesday del. Got the updated info, delivery tomorrow morn by 10:30am. I was CERTAIN I would not get this. I guess crossing fingers helps. BUT, being in FLA till Sun the 4th, puts a serious crimp in my ability to get them in for grading. I'll have to overnight them, incurring a HUGE extra shipping fee. I know NGC has to have them by the 8th.....can anyone advise me of the PCGS cut-off date? Or, so long as they are sealed, etc....anone? Or, should I just open it, keep one, sell one? I'll have a raw 20th set in OGP, and the 25th in OGP. What to do??? Darn mint, took them long enough to get those last orders out. OR, should I just trade 'em for a 69 set? Oh, what to do, what to do......

Think positive...you got them at least :D

And think about all the people that wanted a 1 per household limit. They would still be giving these out for a month and the lag time to order would have been so much longer.

As for what to do with yours? Well it sounds like you have 2 sets and need one for your own set. Having your others all raw I'd say either send these in for grading and sell them both then buy a raw one for yourself. Or open them and sell one opened.

    Either way good luck!!

Oh here's another idea. Send them in for grading.
Sell the 70's and crack out the low grade ones, put them back in the OGP and enjoy the set for you and the $$ from the 70s. Sounds like a Win/Win :D

    Hello Numismania.
Just to help you out so you know. There is no cut off date for the 25th anniv. set as long as the box is still sealed in original OGP. Which means you could send it in to any TPG at anytime. Also if you are debating on what to do. The problem is IF you end up opening the box and taking out one set thaan the other set or sets that are still in box wont qualify to be graded. So you have a couple of options you could find somebody that bought just one set and is planning on opeining their set. If you do that twice than you will have 2 seperate boxes. Or you could also just sell your two sets and then buy 2 individual sets from another dealer or on ebay, It might cost you a little bit more. oR you send them both to get graded. Me personally I wont open my box unlesss they are sent to get graded. Because to me its useless to have them in an open box because then there is no proof that you havnt swapped out coins., To me its like buying half of a coin. I wouldnt be buying an opened set. Especially if i am planning on selling it sometime in the future. Theres only one thing better than having a whole set sealed in OGP is a whole set in MS70 PF70. Take care

I recieved an e-mail this morning reminding me that my set is on backorder. The message header read Backorder - Order #38386xxx

    here's the message.......

I'm taking this to mean that I am still in the fullfillment pipeline since there is no body to the message stating otherwise. Last shipping post on these threads I saw listed was 38382xxx so we must be getting close.
