Does nothing for open sets. You can plug in any three of the throwaways, with non anniversary coins. Sealed sets= Premium. No mixing and matching with sealed. Plus send sealed in anytime to PCGS for first strike. Plus ann'y set label for all 5, only if comes sealed to the TPG.
on another thread here there is a clear picture that proves that one of the three is not the same as a bullion- there are 3 coins in this set with a 100,000 mintage. http://www.cointalk.com/t195070/
Would it be better to sell a "sealed" box now or wait a couple months when the ebay supply of sealed boxes dwindles? Does it matter when they're sold "sealed", or would that affect the value?
Hang on tight because this is where it gets interesting- Ebay sale for $1000 for a single sealed set http://www.ebay.com/itm/2011-Americ..._Individual&hash=item19caa839ed#ht_500wt_1413 let the games begin!!!
Yeah, believe it or not, it actually pays to break them up right now. Individual Rev. Pfs selling around $400 to $450 S mm going for $275 to $320 Remaining 3 coins with box are going for around $180 to $200. Selling individually, people can sell for about $900 compared to $730. People are figuring it out now and doing it. I think it will have an affect on the value of remaining sets left in-tact. You also have to wonder how many will be broken up for grading after it's all said and done.
The error experts are saying other buillon from other years look like the "burnished". No special designation is expected.
If opened sets in OGP start consistently selling for $1,000 then Im a seller too. I wonder if they will fetch that price at coin shows and B&M stores?
That was an auction. final value fees cap at $100 that way. I had three more boxes of five show up today from pre-sale auctions at around $2000 each. Life is good right now.
Looks like MCM has already raised their prices on two of the sets: open box originally $949 now $999 (but shows as sold out) 69 set originally $1,295 now $1,399 (but shows as sold out) 70 set $2,995 (no change in original price) in stock
I'm not involved in all of the wheeling and dealing that a lot of you all are, as I only have 1 set, but I must say this is all a lot of fun to watch regardless. It would be interesting if somebody who likes statistics and such would make a graph of where the prices have been and where they go for a couple of months.
Prices seem to be climbing. Sealed boxes of 5 were going for less than $3700 a couple days ago. Now they're all going for $4000 to over $4200. Most single open sets going for well over $700.
Hey I'm not trying to hijack the threat but it kind of related. Most of the buying selling takes place on EBAY. I want to sell some sets but I only have 1 transaction on Ebay and that was to but a couple of 2009 Lincoln Commemoratives. Will anyone buy from me?
Number of 25[SUP]th[/SUP] Anniversary sets sold on the secondary market so far... Since sets began being received from the mint on November 9, my casual observation of eBay sales is that on average, about 10 sales are being made per hour. Around a third of these are for 5 set boxes and the rest are for single sets. Using these figures as a baseline, somewhere between 3,500 and 4,000 25[SUP]th[/SUP] Anniversary sets have been sold on eBay as of today, 16 November. Here’s the math: Three 5-set boxes + 7 single sets = 23 sets per hour x 24 hours per day = 552 per day x 7 days = 3,864 total sets sold (3.9% of the total population).
Probably given the frenzy to get these sets. You should anticipate prices on the lower end of the spectrum though because some bidders won't bid as much for yours. You can start it at a higher price to make sure you get what you want for them, but beware that these auctions generally bring lower prices than ones started at 99 cents. Good luck and I'm sure you won't have a problem selling them.
I broke my set up and sold 3 lots on eBay 5 day auction. Bidding started at $1 per. Resulting in reverse proof $400. S-uncirculated $305. W proof, w uncirculated, and bullion coin with box and packaging $225. Grand total=$930/set. Some people only want the keys and don't mind paying premiums for these. Also, the boxes are really cool so maybe people just want them. Idk Anyway those selling may want to consider for highest profit margin.
I agree with others that the price increase is for speculators, because the price is flat for single opened boxes, but it is rising for unopened boxes, which tells me people are looking for 70s.
I wouldn't be surprised if the prices shot up fast sometime soon. There are elements that could lead to a real bubble before the market settles down.
