Anybody want to guess the ratio of '-70's to '-69's?
While the TV shopping channels are generally worthless for anything but hype, I noted that Mesak had 200 '-70 graded sets and 300 '-69 graded sets (at least, that's what I think I heard him say). While I don't know how many sets were sent into ANACS to get that many sets, it seems to me that the ratio of 70/69 is relatively low (2/3).

While the ratio of the number of sets is low, the prices were not ($2,999.95/$1,499.95).

Have any of the TPG's started listing population numbers yet?

yeah, anyone not knowing the value of the 2006 set will assign less value to it.

Also, he ended the auction at 3pm on saturday. Personally, I've found that weekends tend to be slower than weekdays as people tend to be more away from the computer, whereas during the weekdays, they're on the computer after work (or at work).

  6. . True perhaps, but for this set the vast majority will grade 69 or 70, and the 68s may be the rarity. TC

Hello Topcat, perhaps i'm missing your point. Are you saying that if the vast majority will grade 69 or 70, then "the rarity" of 68s will make them more valuable than the 69s??

He is just stating that the majority of the coins will grade 69 or 70. Nobody wants to even slab 69s, but for slabbers they or some are willing. Others would rather remove them from the slabs 69 (69 or lower) and place them back in the mint packaging.

  9. No. I do not think 68s will be more valuable than 69s or 70s but just that there will be fewer of them. This set will be valuable in any grade due to the low mintage. TC

I also think that some are overlooking the fact that many collectors are still waiting to see if they got a set from the mint. Once many of these get cancellation notices, some will be looking to buy on the secondary market. There could be thousands of people in this boat, that are not really trying to buy anything yet and are waiting to see the status of their orders. IMO, the long-term price of this set will be $700-$800. I think it will go up yet, and then come back down to that range. I also think that 70's will retain high prices, even if half of the population comes out as 70's. I also think that the other 3 coins will have a premium with the 25th set label, which is why I opted to send in the unsealed box. Good luck to all.

No pricing in the 'Greysheet' yet

FYI: I called CDN today, and a lady explained to me that the 'Greysheet' will not include pricing for any product that is still being sold by the US Mint (like the 25th Anniversary sets). I guess this makes sense, since there is probably comparatively little sales data available and prices are so volatile right now.

Prices are definitely rising today. Supply on eBay dipped today...

I sold my second sealed box of 5 on eBay today for $$3950 + $59 shipping.

My $2000 pre-sale auction packages are starting to show up. Thanks to the sellers that held up their end of the bargain.

I'll best we see a $900 average shortly... I think the graded coin sets will bring up the value of ungraded sets.

    Brace yourself!!!! =)

As I said- I will never sell mine for less than $1K each- they are worth more than that- just look at the set- it is an absolute American classic- you can smell it.

I wouldn't mind that, I'll be placing my box up for the same price. Was that BIN or auction?

FYI MCM just listed opened sets on their website at $949 each, NGC 69 sets at $1,295 each and NGC 70 sets at $2,995 each. I think that should set the scene for sealed sets to hit $1,000 very soon. If they have graded sets for sale then you just know that the ungraded sets have been thoroughly cherry picked.

Saw this on Kitco as well. It's getting better by the day, time to pull them RPs and Ss off eBay and wait for the rocket to take off. I'm a seller all day for $1k.

I just did a quick browsing of the sets on ebay. Geebus, people are already separating the coins and selling off everything in pieces. Am I wrong, or is this going to increase the value of an intact original set, whether it is "sealed" or not?

Apparently, these cannibalized sets (three cheaper coins and the case) are bringing surprisingly high prices at auction. They may be developing a following of their own thanks to the nice case (has great presentation value) and perhaps the possibility that the bullion coin has a unique finish.
