THere have been numerous sets on under the title "2011 Reverse Proof"....it includes whole set.

There's some on ending in a day, only one bid @ opening of $499.95

Thats ignorance on the sellers part. The reverse proof has been selling for 3 to 400 by itself. It doesn't take a degree to sell on ebay.

What would you have the seller do differently?

I thought this would have been obvious. If you do a search on ebay for the "2011 25th anniversary silver eagle set", what do you type in the search field? "2011 reverse proof" when trying to sell a whole set!? That title would be lucky to have a quarter of potential buyers find it.

I'm not one to criticize and question other's auction strategies. However IMO the coin in question will be the one that drives the price of the entire 5 piece set. Take that one coin out and the rest of it turns into bullion pricing. (or maybe a little more) So it seems reasonable to me to have described it as such given that it will reduce his competition.

you're forgetting the S minted burnished uncirculated coin, fatima.

Neither it nor the reverse proof will be available except in the Anniversary Set

So does anyone happen to know if dealers have upped their offer price for these?

I can't believe this, they actually moved my order from hold to "in process". I will down right faint if it goes through. Good news is: I'll hold good to the offer of one set at $299 as a prize for my 1000th post contest. Could this actually happen! :>)

I don't know if I ever really answered the question, did my order go from "hold" to "in progress". The answer is yes. The Mint Rep had me read the letter to them over the phone and then very put in a request to remove the hold. It took about 24 hours to change status. That same order is not reserved and CC charge initiated.
