A spike of auctions will begin once the delivery stage is under way. I'm guessing that will also spike prices for a week or more. As for 'going market price', I think it will be a long while. Maybe six months for some reasonable stability? The coin shop I was at earlier today said they didn't have a good feel for how to price them at retail yet. I think they are going to watch that first week on the bay and take cues from there on a regular basis more than from anywhere else. That should work as long as the local buyers actually accept such pricing. We shall see...

Ebay just pulled all the listings again. This is the third time.

Pretty bold of them to put a copyright notice/warning on a image lifted off the US Mint site:

  6. I believe MCM has a special arrangement with NGC and can probably get a certain number of sets graded quickly. TC

Yes, they are pretty much right across the street from NGC and I believe the owner used to be a grader for them.

What I found interesting is the running streamer on top saying they are accepting non-binding pre-orders! Now with ebay off-limits they can still guesstimate a retail price with the number of pre-orders they get. I would imagine anyone who pre-orders from them will be the first to know the vendors price.

I just pre-ordered a set of NGC69. I'll report back when I hear something from them. I know they were offering $360.00 per set for them when they went on sale, so I would think they would do pretty well on them. We shall see though.

  13. "I have a confirmation # from the Treasury." Sounds like a novice and a little bit sketchy to me. TC

I can see that they've just sent a request to my credit card. That usually happens just prior to shipment.

If e-bay has stopped selling the 25th aniversary set, it isn't working too well. Yesterday, it looks like the going price for the pre-sale was $750. I was surprised to see one at $999. Can someone tell me about the mint box? I've bought five sets. Should I not open the shipping box prior to sending them in for grading? I'm not sure if I will grade them but it may be worth it considering the hype.

    Phil,

If the seal is broken on the mint's shipment box, the TPGs will assume that the sets have been tampered with and they won't get the 25th label. From my understanding here, they will only accept mint sealed boxes to grade the whole set with the special labels. The rev. PF and the S could be broken out and sent to them separately and they would still receive the 25th label. Since they were only available in this set.

Technically, you could break out the others out of 70 slabs and put them in the sets or switch out the other 3 with better quality coins. I would never want to risk sending 5 sets unseen to the TPGs for grading but many people are going to do it. The allure of fame and fortune from getting a set of 70s is too great. I'm going to avoid it though.

I don't see anything on my bank account yet. Anyone else see such activity? Who knows-maybe they really are going to start shipping this week.

Yeah I don't see anything on my account or anything different about my order status. But looks as though everything is in order, with my orders :)
