Has anyone received a letter from the US Mint about their order for the 25th ASE Sets ?? I received one 'today' asking to confirm my billing address, mailing address, and order total.

Umm that sounds fishy to me... I certainly wouldn't click on any links and definitely don't give out any of your info. That is not standard procedure so I'm thinking someone is trying to steal your info. Have you purchased only from the mint or did you buy sets from Ebay?

Edit: Did you recieve this message in your personal email? Can you post a copy of it on here?

Letter, not email... I thought it was weird as I've never received something like this from the Mint. Looks official though.

Odd occurrence. Never experienced anything of the sort.

    Not me.
I just got an eMail apologizing for the 'problems' associated with the sale of the 25th ASEs.

Did you order online or over the phone? Never heard of that before this.

I just got off the phone with the Mint folks (they work late). They wanted to verify my information because I used a different billing address VS. shipping address. I put my work address that way someone can receive it and I don't have to work about missing the delivery guy at home. All is well....

I'm guessing that they'll be sending out verification letters to everyone with different billing/shipping addresses but who knows... It wouldn't hurt to call in and double check if that's what you did.

My letter states that if I don't return it in 10 business days, they'll assume I'm no longer interested and cancel my order.

Glad you got to the bottom of it! Seems like the mint is doing everything they can to make up for their distribution mistakes... I knew a 5 per household limit was a big mistake, but i'm glad I was able to get as many as I could!! :)

Agreed. That had me worried when I got the letter. FHHHEW...

This makes me think they are really looking at each order to make sure that people are not abusing the 5 sets max limit. (not saying the OP did this) If people start complaining to their congressperson about what happened, the Mint is going to catch a lot of grief over how this was handled.

IMO, a lot of orders are going to get canceled in this process.

"IMO, a lot of orders are going to get canceled in this process."

No doubt! And I'll add that some innocent folks following the rules will loose a set or more. That will cause a huge uproar! What if people are away when the letter arrives, or the letter is overlooked, lost in the mail or some other issue... gonna be some heartbreak given the potential the Mint is creating by cancellation after 10-days of non-contact. They should be calling people on top of this unusual letter of notice.

  14. Even though you spoke with them by phone, it may be a good idea to return the card as well. I am more surprised you were able to get a Mint rep by phone at midnight on the weekend. Seems like something strange is going on behind the scenes with these sets. TC

I am putting the letters back in the mail, for sure. It's worth the chance of cancellation. The mint representative said that they've successfully verified everything for me over the phone and within two business days my order should go from "hold" to "in progress". I'll keep you guys posted.

Heads up, if you have an order with separate billing/shipping addresses and your order is still on hold, you can verify via 800-USA-MINT whether there is additional verification needed. It will say so in the automated order tracking information.

    Cheeers!:D

I hope it works out for everyone. But, I confess to being bewildered- how could one not reasonably think that not using identical shipping and billing addresses would not cause one verification problems: it is probably the biggest red flag with respect to fraud detection. And for a matter of such gravity (getting one's precious goods), I would think that one would cross and dot the proverbial t's and i's. Just my respectful opinion. If it works out for you in the end, it obviously doesn't matter...

Thanks to this thread, I was able to call in and verify my order with shipping addresses that differ. The card they send out wouldn't reach me as I am traveling for an extended period of time with work right now. The Mint representative on Customer Service whom I spoke with said, when I asked about mailing the card back, that it was not necessary for me to do as I had called in to verify. All I had to do over the phone was recite my order number and both addresses for billing and shipping. They were very clear the order was verified in regards to this.

could it possibly be because GoldIRA ordered 25 sets?

I experienced something similar with this set. On the morning I ordered 12:02pm est, I did the quick checkout option. I later realized that I have home/home billing/shipping on that one, normally I have them shipped to my office. I called the mint and spoke to a rep who said they could change the shipping to my office if I faxed them a letter and included a copy of my drivers license. Worried about losing the order I decided to just let it be and make sure someone is home on delivery day.

Just thinking out loud here, if the mint is doing some of the processing by snail mail and they're not going to start shipping untill all the orders are processed we may not see any shipped for a couple more weeks?
The flippers will be flipping out by then.

It's November 8th now, order status is pushed back everyday, currently states November 21 expected ship date. That right there is "a couple more weeks". Flippers can't flip what they don't have, (not on eBay anyway) unless they're wearing a wig, but then they're just flipping their wigs. ;)
