    Hey everyone,

It appears as though eBay is temporarily HALTING auctions for the 25th Anniversary Silver Eagle sets. There were close to 400 auctions today and after searching "25th anniversary silver eagle set" there are now 10 left... I know this first hand because I received the following email from eBay

I think this means two things...

    1. The auctions that do slip through eBay police patrol will sell for LOTS.

    2. When people actually start receiving their sets, the prices will probably be high due to the oh'so impatient American!

Or it could mean that Ebay has realized the potential disaster in the making for so many people selling something they don't have. They may have gotten a flurry of complaints from the winners of these auctions who wanted out.

Wow; this drama gets better all of the time. I have just 2 things to say:

    1. I wish I would have purchased 5 sets now instead of just 1.

    2. I'm going to go and make some popcorn and watch the show.

I thought the ATB "puck" fiasco made for good, cheap entertainment, but I have a feeling this is going be even better as it develops. Stay tuned.

    Enjoy the popcorn... Ha!

I bought 5 sets on eBay early on for $2000, we'll see if the seller backs out.

I agree that there are so many sellers that probably won't receive coins because of cancelled orders.

    Should be interesting...

Were you trying to sell the sets that you bought from somebody that may or may not get them? lol

I guess that could be the case. I didn't think of it that way but since I purchased 5 from the Mint, I had a back up. I was asking way more than everyone else just in case someone was willing to pay $3699 for 5.

Have to completely agree. People will be waiting a long time to get these and like I said before, a lot of these sellers are going to cancel the sale if prices go up significantly. You can't blame e-bay for doing this. Will be interesting to see what the first ones start going for. It's a perfect storm now. lol

WOW! This may destroy relationships all over the world! Think of all those who talked customers, friends and family into ordering for them and promised repayment before their credit card bills were do. It’s going to be close.

    Perfect storm... I agree.

Hopefully those flippers will be able to get the coins sold before the first credit card statement.

All I can say for the flippers is, don't play with money you don't have because at the end, you will always get burned.

im sure they will have enough to make the minimum payment and pay the intrest charge on the next statement that wont be an issue, this ebay policy is good they are protecting themselves from a huge risk of having to fork up money for undelivered goods and its good for those who want to sell because demand will build up by the time everyone starts getting their sets

Nice bright side, but I kind a hoped a lot of sets would have been absorbed by the time they were delivered. Maybe even a huge panic by those who bought on eBay, but don't receive the sets. Now we're all going to have to wait longer, unless they all run to another auction, like eBid or.......

The issue for the ones who got others to order for them: These people probably know nothing about coins and are only going to know the payment is late, regardless of whether the interest is paid.

It seems to me that this may make prices sky-rocket once they are in hand. I see this as an overall good thing.

A simple search shows that ebay is not enforcing this- there are still sets offered!

Must be sellers who don't read their email or new sellers. Looks like eBay will pull them.

I don't know, some of the eBay sales will be honored, but there's still going to be a ton of these sets for sale initially. We'll have to watch other venues to see if prices rise before delivery.

This could be a “knee-jerk” reaction from eBay. If the seller has a confirmed order and can prove it and has 100% (or close) feedback, they’ll most likely make good on the sale.
