I didn't ask, but probably $600, based on eBay. He claims these sets will be tough to get once they're actually released.

how much lower do you expect it to go? already see some in the 550 to 600 range and if gets lower than that i see a lot of people who would just choose to hold on and wait for the price to go up which will make it go back up to the 800 to 900 range. plus i think a lot of buyers are waiting till people actually have the set rather than playing the game of trying to buy a set just to have the auction canceled since seller didn't get what they want.

Yep, I just picked up 2 more Mt. Hoods, the only 27k mintage ones they have left (but, not many).

I do believe a lot of flippers and dealers are snatching these up. once all the middle men are done buying ,the price should rise. in theory

In theory and in practice, most of the time - it's a good bet.

thats true. those who pre sold for the low 400's before the release may have cancelled the sales. and like you said if the price jumps up before every one receives them there might be a lot of 600 dollar range sets being cancelled.

Yep, the sellers should all put that disclaimer in their ads (will refund if not received), that way, if the price goes up, they can claim they tried, but didn't get them, even if they did.

Obviously no one knows what is going to happen for sure, but we do know those who don't know their history are doomed to repeat it. There have been examples in the mint releases of many countries where there was a supposed "hot" item that lost its "hotness" for a time or maybe even longer. The 2 most recent examples are the Perth Mint 2012 dragon (1 ounce BU and proof) and the 2010 ATB 5-ouncers. In both cases, the pattern was: low mintage, high demand, excessive hype, crazy prices, decreasing prices. The 2011 Anniversary Set is exhibiting the same pattern. You might say, "This time it's different", but it's not; it hardly ever is; it's just wishful thinking on our part.

I think if you look at the history of this sort of thing objectively, you can't help but believe, after the initial swell, the prices will decline for a short or long while. They may eventually pick up in the future, but for a person who wants to acquire a set without spending ridiculous money and doesn't have to have it tomorrow, he/she would do well by being patient and letting the dust settle. This been the case with the past 2 examples I mentioned above. Regardless of whatever reasons we want to attribule to it being "different" this time, the probability is high history will once again repeat itself.
