Guy, I think that the reason that prices have dropped is only related to the bad economy and here's what I mean:

As the economy worsened, many people sold off their sets for the money. Now the glut of sets on the market has lowered the market prices. Your hypothesis is that as the economy improves, so will the price on this set. I say that as the economy improves, will the prices rebound if and only if the demand for these sets causes the market to re-absorb them. Otherwise the prices will remain low.

wow! everybody was so hyped up for this set. the set has not even been shipped and people are losing faith. Kim k's wedding lasted longer than this.

when it comes to ASE'S the 25th set is the cream of the crop.

I dont see it as a bullion investment but more of a rare chance to collect some thing special. i'm keeping the business, speculators, and flippers away from the way i collect.

The demand for these collectables are also affect by PM prices. When silver dropped 25%, the demand for the ATB P's dried up and still hasn't recovered, even though the Mint lowered the price. Early issues are holding their own. I still like the series, not only are they beautiful, but with their low mintages, they have potential.

True, but as a general rule when economies recover, so too does demand. Demand declined because people don't have money or perceive they can't afford to spend. So IMO, most things that have depressed prices because of a bad economy may be good investments - buy low, sell high.

to me it seems like the 20th anniversary set was priced less when silver was at $49. silver is pushing only $35 now and the set prices are on the rise.

but thats the problem with modern coins, the prices go up down like a yo yo.

Yeah, I have to believe that people who claim now is the best time to sell, either missed out on these sets or are dealers. Either way they are potential buyers trying to keep prices low.

Based on the last few days on eBay, $600 appears to be the floor with thousands of sets being offered. Probably most of those buyers are flippers or dealers hoping to double or triple their money.

    Are you kidding?

350% profit in just 2 years (since this is a topic about prices) There are been few mint coins issued in the last decade that have risen in value like these coins.

I bet the 2011 ASE set breaks the record for appreciation and does it in the first year.

I use to have every silver eagle proof with the OGP & every silver eagle pf69 and started on the pf 70's. I also hag about 70 eagle bullion coins of random years, but i sold them all. i just got sick of them.

I used the money to buy old rare coins.

but even i am excited about this set. this is a great set even if you are not an ASE collector. it has an example of each silver eagle. proof, reverse proof, burnished, and a bullion coin.

it's such a fast paced world. no one wants to sit on equity anymore. it's always "sell sell sell"

set it and for get it. I'm holding mine.

I'm going to be bullish on my 3 sets! yahoooo

  14. Imagine how people would have reacted if there were any of the following in the set:

    2009 proof ASE
    Ultra high relief ASE
    Fractional ASE
    5 ounce ASE

I like the set too and got in as well, but found the selection uninspiring (other than the s burnished ASE). TC

I just called a local B&M shop, he's compiling a buyer list at $1,500 per set.

Which is why I like the ATB P's more than the ASE's - 56 different designs of really low mintages coins and if you want to buy silver, you'll have 280 ounces if you collect one of each. If silver tanks, so what, that probably means the economy has recovered and these coins should hold their value or reach new highs.

they are at a good price now. now would be the time to buy. only 229 each from the mint for the ones they have.

  20. I would be curious what HIS buy price is for the set. :smile TC
