even though mine says the status is in process. it still says backordered . i think once it says "in stock and reserved " then it is ready for shipping. i still do not have a tracking #. but it is good to know that some are getting to that point of a tracking #.

I probably should have taken a better look, I also ordered two sets of the President Proof coins that say shipped 11/01 so that would be what the tracking number is for. Sorry about that.

I think i will hold on to my three sets when i receive them. so there will only be 99,997 sets out there.

There doesn't seem to be any relationship to the order number and when it comes off of hold status. I've read much higher order numbers than yours that claim to be in process now, but if it makes you feel any better, I'm still in the hold status. I just hope you're holding up better than me:D

Somehow they contact the CC company and get a pre-approval. On mine, I go online, and it shows it in the Activity column as Pending, but doesn't actually charge until it ships. It shows in the Pending catagory on mine, prior to the actual billing. Different CC companies are probably different.

I noticed in the thread many orders are in process even though they were ordered later then my order. I just got off the phone with the Mint after inquiring about the "Hold" status of my order. They told me there is more then one level of "hold" status. My order was cleared for everything except "address verification." "We aren't going to send $1505.00 worth of coins to an address unless it's valid. I told him to check my order history - AGEs, four coin AGE set, GBs, UHR, etc. he replied "don't worry if there's a problem with your order we'll email you or call.

I just got off the line with US Mint customer service. The lady was friendly, but difficult to understand (accent-wise). I asked her if my order status being: 'your order request is in process' means that I have passed the funds verification stage. She replied to me (verbatim): 'your order was just released from a dollar hold. Whenever your order is for more than $300.00, we run a dollar hold.' I asked her why I couldn't see the charge/authorization on my bank account, and she told me that the actual charge is run just prior to shipping. Paraphrasing now, she told me that my order is going to the next stage. I don't know if any one else has called and been told something similar. I'm not the sharpest tool, but I'm not sure what she meant by a 'dollar hold'. Maybe it is some kind of mini-authorization step. I wasn't aware that credit cards/check cards allow for such a thing. I thought when the merchant swipes a card/card number, it is either authorized (with a number given) or declined (basically thumbs up or thumbs down). Never heard of a 'dollar hold'. Anyway, maybe other posters have called in and can share what they learned about the ordering process

You're getting your coins Strumgrenadier. Don't be concerned with all the hocus pocus by the mint customer service staff. Been through this 'pucky' many times and it all works out in the end. I even had one order (years ago) listed as "suspended". What the devil is that? In the end it all worked out........:)

Probably something similar to when you swipe your card at a gas station. The credit card will be checked for a certain dollar amount(usually higher than the average sale). Then when you finish it actually charges the amount spent.

They run an initial charge for a dollar to see if the card info and account are correct. After they run this initial charge they have to follow up for it to be posted to your account. In this case they just don't follow up and it falls off your account (most of the time you won't even see it when its in this pending status) automatically. Then they run the actual charge before they send the coins (and they do the follow up so it sticks). This initial charge lets them know that you didn't give them bad info, etc.

Thanks, Green:) I needed to hear that from someone who has had firsthand experience dealing with the byzantine ordering and fulfillment process of the US Mint. I feel like the only dunce here who doesn't understand how this game works. I guess calling customer service and expecting to understand better afterwards was naive of me:( I am going to take your advice and just not worry about receiving a cancellation order due to unlikely problems with my funds verification (bank suspecting fraud and declining the authorization, etc.) I have 7K in my bank account so I just have to trust that my order will go through. Thanks again for sharing your calming perspective on things:)

Hallelujah! (spelled wrong I know) Somebody understands!:) I am begging the Mint to take my money (and not cancel my order). Somebody finally gets it. Like you said, we're almost there. Hopefully just a couple more days max and this nightmare will be over and we will enjoy these beauties in hand. Thanks for letting me know I'm not alone with my fears and agonizing over what might not be...
