The ship date on my order moved from 11/11 to 11/12 to 11/13. My order was placed at 5:02PM. I think my status, (am I on a waiting list or am I in), is uncertain. I bought two, one for myself and one as a Xmas gift.

I guess I will have to wait it out.

For what it's worth, I have been working with computers as a tech, a programmer/analyst, data manager, and every other capacity since the days of candle powered computers and I can tell you whether you are using Chrome, Explorer, a T10 connection, fiber optic networks, or any other variation of hardware/software, you are still funneling into the US Mint servers and systems that everyone else is funneling into. The differences is connections probably has more to do with your IP provider's load at the time of connection, the cookies and saved web pages you have on your computer or don't have saved, and how rurally you live but not always nor is it really going to matter a whole heck of a lot. The point is that you can't really improve your connection by switching to this browser vs. that browser or any other desktop variation but I think people like to believe that they have some controllable aspect of their computer connection that they can change to improve their access. There really isn't all that much you can do in most cases but if someone does change something, they can usually convince themselves that the change really mattered. In most cases, and I say most cases, it really doesn't matter all that much what browser you use or the IP provider you have because most of the factors that control the speed and access to the Mint serves are out of your control anyway. This is not something that I'd spend a lot of time thinking about.
As an example, I live in a town that is completely fiber optic cable enabled, I logged in through large, large capacity serves, I mean enormous servers and it still took me an hour and a half to make my purchase. Now what in the world could I have done to empower my connection anymore than that and still I spent an hour and a half trying to make a buy? There are just a lot of better ways of improving your chances of getting through to the Mint to make a purchase other than changing your browser. IMHO.

BTW Just in case you think computers are infallible, here is my order date and time:
Order Date: 10/27/2011 at 12:52 AM

Funny how I was able to purchase my sets more than 12 hours before they went on sale THE DAY BEFORE THEY WENT ON SALE!. Must be because my servers are so fast and located in the Central Time Zone. :D

Most certainly agree, you have reiterated my inital post, and further expanded upon the basics (to us). Anyways, what I have now done was to change ports. Do you think this may be meaningful at all? A reply at your convenience is appreciated. Thank you.

Other than cleaning of the cache memory, or upgrading RAM, or only having the cookies for the US Mint website saved, changing the port or even the changes I just mentioned will make a negligible if unnoticeable difference in your connection speed.

Simple ideas such as shill buyers with multiple Mint accounts using different credit cards and addresses would increase your chances far more than any minor adjustments in your hardware/software in my opinion. I have an account, my wife has an account, my three kids have accounts, and I use different credit cards for each purchase. I have them sent to my mother-in-law's address, my work address, my wife's work address, and other family members addresses. Getting through to the Mint by phone and computer seems to also increase the likelihood of making multiple purchases. You just need a good network of people connected by cell phones. I only bought 5 this time because I wasn't sure how well they'd be selling aftermarket but I wanted to take a bigger risk initially and I kind of wish that I had now. Live and learn. I bought 10 sets of the 20th Anniversary ASEs and they didn't really take off like I thought they would so I was a bit gun-shy when it came to the 25th Anniv. set.

Looking at various blogs regarding the order process for the 2011 AMERICAN EAGLE 25th ANNIVERSARY SILVER COIN SET, it seems that the first 4 digits are the key.

I personally placed an order at 3:19 EST with the first 4 digits being 3835XXXX. The quote seems to make some sense.

Thank you very much. i am most familiar with such aspects as you have mentioned. However, I have not decided to perform those steps, in order to purchase merchandise. You must think of those whom wish to purchase, and are not able, due to the aforesaid issue. Business is business, but in reality, I really never believed in not allowing someone else the opportunity to jump onboard. I really don't understand how you possibly could be gun-shy, especially if you have been in numismatics. Anyways, I felt the switching of ports would be a moot issue. You did provide me with some small detail, which I instituted to my demise. Will not do that again. I possibly believe that facet could have initiated my downfall, while trying to order.

Paraphrasing what many posters have stated on this thread and others: you will only know for certain that you are getting your set(s) when you receive a tracking number in your order status. Everything else is just speculation...

Things must be happening. My two set have been moved from "hold" to "in process" also. I think it is a very good sign.

  21. The message you are looking for is: "In stock and reserved," along with a tracking number and the removal of your cancel boxes. TC
