Since the two special ASEs are only gotten in this set, would it make sense to just pull them from all the sets and turn in only those for grading and screw the first strike designation? It would be much cheaper this way to get all 10 of the rarer coins graded 25th anniversary description - worthless since all 100,000 is only offered in this set First strike description - worthless since all 100,000 are first strike. I mean, a 2011 PF70 reverse strike is what it is right? Would it really matter if the other common bullion in the set wasn't graded or this coin doesn't have the descriptions above?
If you didn't get one from the mint. Wait one year to buy a set if you really want one. You'll pay a fraction of the price that you will if you try and buy it after-market in the next few months.
I got into this for a quick flip, I personally do not believe in collecting anything created to be collected... Since my funds were limited, I also enlisted a buddy in Jersey to pick up a couple, than he will let me flip them for him for a 10% Total Sales fee. All in All, it was a fun day.
Wow, like others have said, everyone had the same opportunity to get up to 5 sets. This thread was posted in the sub-section "Billion Investing", after all a majority of us are here to invest and then as a safety net if fiat every went to Shiiit.
I remember people were saying the same thing about the UHR eagle. I think your best bet is the week they get released. There will be a lot of listings and some will probably be looking to get a quick $100 profit or something on ebay.
Really, go buy a '06 20th Anniv. Set for a fraction of the cost... oh wait, it is over 3x the mint selling price to this day..
The NGC policy for these sets is here: http://www.ngccoin.com/news/viewarticle.aspx?IDArticle=2409&NGC-label-for-25-anniversary-eagle-sets You will still get the set designation on the reverse proof and s coin if submitted seperate. I also like the fact that I can opt to receive the packaging back, which I may use if I get a set less than a 69 I may crack it out and put it back in the packaging...
Or you could just do without! There's a concept. I'm on the waiting list. I'll either get mine at $300 or I won't get one. I'm certainly not going to put money into some flipper's pocket.
Any information on the PCGS submissions? Which should I submit to if I want these graded? And is it worth it to have them graded, even if I can't tell 69s from 70s?
Nevermind, saw it on another thread. Btw, I can't believe the audacity of some people to try to make people feel guilty for buying something in accord with how it was offered for sale. I could buy 5 sets and I did, and I will sell 3 of them. I wish you luck next time.
Since I have never ordered more than one of anything from the mint, I was wondering how you guys think they will package these? Do all the sets ordered come in one box? And if they do, does that mean you have to send them all to NGC for grading? Or do you think they will come individually boxed inside another large box? Or all separately.
Just happy that I got my order for 15 sets in today. I was hoping for many more but all my friends gave up trying. I will be anticipating the day these will arrive.
We are thinking alike on this issue. If I get a set through the mints' wait list, fine; if not, fine too. I sort of lost my real interest in this series when the mint failed to produce a 2009 proof issue. I had them all up until that point (not the 1995W however) and the mint put me in a sour frame of mind. I don't feel the same about them anymore. They are not "must haves". I have other coins I would put my money into if a set isn't available at, or close to, mint pricing.
I'm happy with the one set I got! It will go in the safety deposit box until my wife takes it out years from now! I would have liked to have gotten 5 sets, but they would gone to my kids and wife, wasn't lookin to make a profit, just a legacy to my family! My wife did bring up a good question, If I thought there might be a 30th anniversary looming in the future? if so I will be prepared, but I told her more possibly a 50th thou!!
Wow! I can't believe it's sold out already. I'm glad I decided to try and get this at noon instead of waiting till this evening like I did for the past 4 five-ounce ATB's. I kind of wished I ordered 2 but I'm happy with one. I understand why people are upset about those who ordered more than 1 set to flip. It's like people that bought multiple PS3's or iPhone's to sell for a profit (most of the time an obscene profit) and thereby depriving the chance for some people to get it at the initial price. It's especially disconcerting when some of the sellers involved don't even keep 1 product for themselves but are just in for the profit. That kind of behavior screws over the actual fans of the product that want it not for profit, but for its own sake. At the same time I understand that those who did buy 5 sets were playing by the rules of the mint and that's the way it goes sometimes. There's a difference between what you should do and what you can do. And most of the time I side with what you can do. I think the mint should have limited the first 60,000 to just 1 per household and then increased the limit after that. Oh well.
Some of us are multiple set collectors and not flippers for profit Col. Green owned all 1913 V-Nickels at one time! He was a collector! :thumb:
