It's a miracle!! I FINALLY was able to get through, and get back to my shopping cart. I hit Quick order and confirmed and it went through!!! I got 5 sets locked in. The site was unusable after I ordered. I couldn't go to another page. That place is a madhouse! I'm glad to get out of there. I think they have a good chance of selling out today the way this is going. That was a lot harder than the Lincoln Chronicles set.

Thank God I set up a My Account this week. Would have never got out of there. I'm not at home and my laptop battery is down to 25%!! Whew! :D The fourth and fifth numbers of my order number are 45..... if anybody is curious. Got in at about 1:05 p.m. CDT after an hour and a half of trying.

This is certainly a contrived rarity - great for retailers and coin flippers, but terrible for true collectors and numismatist. A more reasonable and professional approach by the Mint would have been to produce 250,000 to 500,000 of these sets (vs 100,000) and limit the household buy quantity to two (vs 5). I suspect we’ll be hearing a lot more about this contrived rarity concern in the future.

You'd have to be crazy to be trying to order anything but this item today.

Check your email you use for the mint to see if they sent you a confirmation of account change. If so, then just back button one and your info will be updated.

Or at least limit the order to 1 set per househol the first few days. Coming up with a low mintage but allowing 5 per household is pretty stupid.

I was going to just order one for my son, but with the games they are playing with this, I thought it stupid not to buy the 5 sets.

I totally agree with this. If this was going to have a mintage of 250 to 500k, I would have just ordered my one or two sets and been happy. Since it appeared that people were going to go nuts, (which they are), I opted for 5 sets. The problem is people trying to get a hundred or more of them that don't even want one. I agree, it is sort of a disservice to the collecting community. It almost forces people to play the game and join the fray the day they're released. Maybe they want it for the publicity? I don't know what the motivating factors are for them.

Wish I had the money to buy the 5 sets but I was doing good with the one. Besides, I am not greedy and would not feel right flipping for more than I paid to other collectors. I know if I had been shut out I would be ticked at being robbed because I couldn't get on to order and had to buy late. That's why I agree with others that suggested the mint should have had a 1 per household limit, to give everyone a fair chance to get one. Ok,off my soapbox now. :)

This limited production should have been limited to 2 per household, and/or no commercial sales until personal sales were processed in the first 24 hours. It's a frenzy of businesses trying to buy as much as possible, then sell on ebay for a huge markup.

I ordered a 2011 silver proof set today around noon... with my 5 silver eagle sets of course. I figured I could save on shipping and had it in my cart for a few days. Yet another present for my son who was born in June (I have seen that several people on here are having kids and buying this set for them).

question, i'm in the shopping cart and have been waiting for it to update from 1 in the cart to 5. It's been hung up there so long that i got that pop up that i was going to be logged off due to inactivity. I clicked to stay logged in. Am i really still in and or am i fooling myself? The page hasn't timed out so I think it's just taking forever but I'm not sure. Anyone had the same experience?

I had that. Did you get your email confirmation? I let it sit after I got the email, it logged off without going to the next page, but I have the email.

My problem is I went to order history, and they list two orders, but I only have one email. I sure hope they won't delete both orders. I will have to call tomorrow and make sure I let them know what is happening.

Yes, and it never did go through. Try the phone and leave your online order to process. You should get through on one or the other.

I was just saying this because a few people were saying maybe all the order numbers were not for this set, I also ordered a couple other items along with the ASE set. I went to the site before noon and had them in my cart before I tried for the ASE set

In my experience it does not pay to wait forever for a page to load. If it does not load in a minute or two, it is not going to, so you might as well stop it and hit reload. Waiting for half an hour for one page is not productive. I was able to place all my four orders (one set per order so they are individually sealed and I can choose later what to do with them) in about an hour easily. But that was early in the game, right after noon.

The very last step (confirm purchase) goes through even if the page hangs forever. All 4 times I got email confirmation without ever seeing the confirmation page. The purchases show in my order history too.

    First post, btw. Hi. :)

My order for five finally went though with a shipping date of 11/10/11 which means I'll take the unopened box to PCGS OR NGC at the Baltimore Whitman Show.
