I know we’re all saving up for the 25th Anniversary Eagle Set, but, did anyone order the Glacier 5oz. P Uncirculated ATB that went on sale today for 229.95? Just ordered mine in 30 seconds.

Got mine, too. Quickly. Going for the 25th, too.

I think that the 25th will hurt sales of the Glacier, though. It'll take a long time to sell this one out.

Yeah, wish the mint would sell these for a limited time. That may cause faster sellouts and create some lower mintage, more rare issues.

So, looks like we're the only two that ordered this - that would be cool.

Make me the third that ordered one. :) This is going to be an expensive week.

That makes me the 4th then? I still think that a complete set of these in P and bullion versions will make a heck of an heirloom.

Yep, now that bullion coins are accepted collectables, everyone will have ASE’s, but, only affluent collectors will have these low mintage P issues in their collections.

I just ordered one as well. I didn't even know these were released today until I got an email from the Mint. Going to be an expensive month for me as well. Im hoping to score 2 of the 25th sets on Thursday.

The lukewarm response to the 2011 issues did make me pause a little before submitting my order, however when/if the economy improves I think the secondary market for these will pick up from the present levels (both P and bullion versions). The pace of the releases this year after the 2010 fiasco has made it financially difficult for a lot of people who might otherwise want them to keep up. Assuming you got the 2010 bullion versions from the APs at the Mint mandated price ($950 for round numbers), and the 2010 P versions direct from the Mint ($285 each with shipping), that's a $2,375 investment just for the first year. Tack on another $900 or so for the 2011 bullion versions and $1,175 for the 2011 P versions (assuming today's prices) and you're at $4,450 spent in a single year.

For me, this set stands as motivation to keep up with having quit smoking. When the 2010s were first released I figured that, for the same monthly outlay, after 11 years I could either have a) a complete set of these in bullion and P versions representing 560oz of silver to enjoy and leave to my heirs or b) a mountain of ashes and butts, and a bad cough. Easy choice.

Sadly (well sort of) I also have a complete collection of ASEs in bullion, proof, and burnished, along with the 10th and 20th anniversary sets, sooooooo expensive week for me considering the 25th anniversary ASE set comes out on Thursday.

My wallet will be happy to see the back of 2011 for sure!

I hear you! This "catch up" on the P's hurts. It will be nice to have to purchase only 5/year and hopefully at lower silver prices.

I'm planning on ordering one today when I order the 25th aniversary set since I've got the first six. It seems like a good way to save $4.95. I'm still not sure on the quantity of the 25th set. I'm thinking five but that is a lot of money. The investment seems sound on them though and I love ASE's. I'm not so sure about the 5-oz hockey pucks but I'm in too deep now. I really like the look and feel of a 5-oz silver coin.

I hear you. Five sets is a lot of money, but at least there's the backstop of dealers offering to buy at well above the issue price already.

I wonder if the Chickasaw bullion coin might be a sleeper in the 5oz set. The last report I saw showed only 19,100 having been ordered by the APs, and IIRC these can only be sold to the APs during the actual year of issue. If no more are ordered, that would be a far lower mintage than any other coin in the series.

Does anyone know where I can find the production totals on the bullion and uncirculated "P" 5oz ATB's.

    Thanks for the help.

So am I the only one who got my NP7 (Glacier) from the Mint, which went up for sale on 10/25, before my NP6 (Gettysburg) which went on sale 9/22?

Got my NP6 before my NP7. Have you received the NP6 yet?

Still waiting, now it shows as backordered and the ship date changes every day. It's odd as the maximum mintage is supposed to be 35,000 for the 2011 coins, and the sales figures released yesterday show 14,473 sold. Mind you Glacier shows as backordered too with a one week ETA and sales of only 10,680.

OT edit: has anyone found a good solution for storing these? What would be nice is something like a track box that can hold either a Z5 or the Mint capsule vertically, but I haven't come across one that's 3+ inches wide. Apmex have some really nice wooden display boxes, but by the end of the series you'd be looking at storing 23 of them which is a lot of room!

I'd call the Mint, something is wrong (lost in the mail?).
