Yeah this is definitely going to be the big winner for the year. If you pass on the opportunity, you will miss out. I think the biggest factor in the sellout will be the 5 per address limit. With a limited production of 100,000 sets they will be eaten up in no time.

Personally I will try to be online and logged in by 11:40 tomorrow if I can get out of work fast enough - LETS DO THIS!

    Another data point to consider

Just saw an ad on page 53 of the November 7 issue of CoinWorld, offering to sell complete sets of the 25[SUP]th[/SUP] anniversary SilverEagles in NGC70 slabs “for only $3,975”...let the games begin!

Here is hoping to them just limiting the number per household, instead of raising mintages or prices.

I will opt for the additional cost gift box. As I understand each set will come individually boxed making this an ideal way to flip individual sets. You will be charged for each set gift box automatically you cannot specify only one gift box, it's all or nothing. Oh the temptation to open them will kill me. Without the gift box option when you open the shipping box they will all be considered opened.

It appears that I responded to a deleted post.

Let's hope it doesn't get bewitchingly ugly tomorrow!

Ugh, I have gym class tomorrow, ending at 12:45, but it sometimes gets out early... Then lunch, where I try to nail down a set for half an hour before having to head back to class. I hope I can get it or I will have to try again when I get some around 3:00.

Question: If I can't get the set from the mint, where's the next best place, the same day of course.

With out knowing after market pricing, it's impossible to say who will offer the best deal if the mint isn't your source. Probably just in shear numbers, the flippers on eBay will give you the best oportunity but maybe not the best price. This is the time you need to have a good relationship with a dealer you can work with. No matter what, you will need deeper pockets to be able to nag a set.

    Questions about ordering

I am only going to try ordering online. This may limit my chances of getting an order in, but I am not comfortable with ordering by phone, because I think there is too much room for error (credit card numbers juxtaposed/misrecorded, etc.) that might not be discovered until its's too late. Plus, how do you know that the order# they gave you is legitimately logged in the system? Do they send an order confirmation to your email address on record with them? I like ordering online, because you can clearly see the status of your order from the time you successfully place it by clicking the submit button.

This may be a dumb question too, but what does the mint mean when it says orders placed before noon will not be honored. By definition, isn't there system only set up to take [legitimate] orders beginning at noon? Do we really have to worry about jumping the gun by filling our basket with the item and clicking submit too soon? Its a confusing statement.

Finally, when attempting to place an order online, how can one differentiate between whether the mint contractor's server has crashed (has come to a standstill due to being overwhelmed by traffic) and when it is just being slow (yet still processing orders in the order users have connected)? What I mean is how do you know when to give up on an ordering session (when the screen appears frozen or keeps saying 'connecting' etc.) and to close your browser and reopen a new session? Or are you better off just sticking with the ordering session you have opened no matter how long ( 5 minutes? 15 minutes, a half hour?)? I guess an 'error' message is a good sign that you need to open a new ordering session in a new browser window? Maybe some IT folks can chime in and enlighten some of us less technically savvy collectors.

One colleague of mine at work plans to call the 1-800-USA-MInt order number 10 to 15 minutes in advance and stall by asking many legitimate questions about other prodcuts (written down on a pad beforehand) until the noon opening. I wonder if such shenanigans will be tolerated?

And as a final comment, I think this will be an extremely fast sell-out (within first 3 hours or so). The news reports about the Lincoln Chronicles Set selling out two years ago in about 30 hours is completely false. I attempted to place an online order during my lunch hour of the first day, failed due to the heavy traffic, came home at 4:30 PM and apparently made a successful online order (order# issued and appeared in my order history), and the next day it was canceled with a terse notice of 'product mintage reached'. So don't go celebrating too soon even if you get an order confirmation, because the contractor's server is apparently 'stupid': it keeps taking orders well past the mintage limit and then axes excess ones. You'll have to wait a few days or so to know for sure that your order is truly going to be processed.

I received 2 emails from dealers in the past 2 days. Goldmart today wants to purchase 2,000 sets at $380.00 each and Modern Coin Mart yesterday wanted hundreds at $360.00 each. I would think APMEX, Gainesville Coins, Mint Products, Govmint and Provident Metals are also attempting to find some. This is going to be a lot tougher than I originally thought.

The world is going mad, I tell you.............MAD! Good luck to everyone!

If I can't get one from the mint, I am going to gobble one up off eBay asap

Until it arives at your house, there are no 100% guarantee's. That experience you mentioned about the Lincoln Chronicles, I order mine the second day of availability and the mint site said I was on a wait list. No notice one way or the other, but 5 days later it showed up in the mail. Go figure?

Flippers paradise! If each vendor you listed gets 1500 that's 10% of the market and they will command setting the price. But if most go to ebay, the vendors will have to increase their offer prices. I suggest going ebay and make them rise their offers. Hope they are reading this!
