I sent an email a few days ago to NGC. Here is the response I received.

Thank you for your email. The 25th Anniversary Sets will need to be sent in the Unopened packaging from The Mint just like the 20th Anniversary sets. The box that you receive from The Mint should be put into another box with your submission form. You will need to use the Modern Special Grading tier for these coins. That is all the information we have to give at this time. I would suggest that you keep checking our web site for further information regarding these coins.

Please feel free to email or call us should you have any further questions.

    Thank you,

A three coin set for $100, and silver at $12. I would break that down to be $36 for silver, and $50 for all of the processing. That would roughly give a 15% profit.

Today, if silver is $32, a five coin set would be $160, lets say processing is $83, and then 15 on top would be around $279. That would be my guess if I had to make one. It may be a touch high, but its the best I could "back of a napkin" come up with.

Going back to Stash's original post, if you don't want to have those 2 coins designated on the label as being from the 25th anniversary set (and why would you, as we all know they could have only come from the anniversary set), I would think he could have them graded on their own individual merit, just as you would any other individual coin.

If anyone wants to pursue this, NGC's phone number is: 800-ngc-coin.

    Chris,

If it ends up being $279.00 or less, I will be dancing in the street down here. It won't be a pretty sight, but a mildly entertaining 1 anyway.

I agree. I'm sure that when it is all said and done, you will see a lot of these coins individually graded. This is mostly what you see today with the reverse proof from 5 years ago.

    $58.95 +58.95 +50.95 + 50.95 +$34.95 = $254.75 2 proofs 2 Burnish Unc and one vanialla UNC that should be the high price range

You may be right, but with unique finishes and the box I very well could see a higher price. It will be interesting to see who is closer.

I don't care what the price is going to be. I'm going to keep buying 5 sets until they run out of sets or my credit card companies cut me off, or my bank accounts are gone, or my children's inheritance is spent. Christmas on eBay will be lucrative this year.

    sell on ebay $500
    - $350 paid to mint
    - $50 ebay fee
    - $10 paypal fee
    ---------------------
    = $90 before taxes
    - $27 for taxes claiming as income . %30 self employment tax.
    ---------------------
= $63 profit . thats not including interest on credit card if using credit card.

you would have to sell a lot of sets to make money. i will buy one for me and thats all.

X, I don't know where you came up with any of those figures. I know the fees are wildly overestimated and as far as the price of the coin set price goes, we'll see but I'd be willing to bet it is closer to $300.

With sets like these, I always buy three to keep and a couple more to sell to pay for the three I keep. I don't think I should have to pay for my own coin collecting obsession.

I will get the max of 5 if I can, 1 for me, 1 for my newborn son (birthyear present along with a silver proof set), and 3 to sell. Hopefully the 3 I sell will offset the price for the 2 I keep. I am betting on ebay prices hitting over $700 after they sell out (provided they keep mintage at 100k). If you just look at $200-$250 each for the two limited release, then $60 for the proof, $50 for the burnished, and $35 for the uncirc, you are already at $545-$645 for the set. I can see these being sustained prices if we are lucky. If we are unlucky then so be it. It will be worth at least $150 at today's prices (spot).

I thought the paypal fee was closer to 3%.

I just wanted to make sure everybody has a calculator before they go selling the farm to buy up these sets.

How many think the 5 set limit will hold or will the mint reduce this number to 1 for the first week?

Seeing as how they will probably raise the mintage to 250,000 to match the 2006 Set, I think the 5 per household will hold. I don't know about anybody else, but I'm starting to get a little excited.

(I'm only kidding about raising the mintage.) I do think the current household limit will hold, though.

I must say that I am really surprised at the household limit versus the mintage limit. It seems odd to offer a low mintage and then allow 5 per household. With the Lincoln Chronicle set, it was limited to 1 per household with a mintage of 50k.

The mint has not confirmed the mintage limit at this time.

Yeah, with all the speculation going on, I figure if they keep the 5 limit, they'll up the mintage. If they keep the 100k, I can see them lowering the limit, as one of their stated goals is to insure that all that want one, get one. But, who knows with the mint, often reason and fairness seem to elude them, in their efforts to produce a profit.

I spoke with a sales rep.(Pitney Bowes) and she said no price as of now and didn't know when they would release the price. She DID say that the mintage would be 100,000.........:thumb:
