Well, I never buy these sorts of things with any investment intent, though I do admit that I enjoy it if something that I've purchased appreciates in value. Being the collector I don't have an ax to grind......:)

I am not going for investment either, I just know that unless the price is insanely high, that the set will increase in value

  4. I am so sorry sir, but I cannot finish your surgery right now...I need to go onto the US mint website for a few hours and try to order my 25th anniversary set before all the flippers get them. TC

So when is there going to be an announcement of the release date and price from the mint? It's already the first week of October and the August 19th press release states 'late October'. My guess is they push it back into November. I hate waiting for these things:(

Back in '06 the 20th anniversary sets were released on August 30 of that year. I got in early on the ordering, yet, I didn't receive my set till mid December. I feel the mint will go with the late October release and just distribute the sets into early next year.

Look like the Mint re-priced the silver proof sets. ASE still in process

Two weeks for a what $2 drop on the sets....almost laughable.

I would like to purchase 2 of these sets as well. I think they will be winners in the long run just like the 2006 set and 2009 UHR. I just thought I'd mention the 2010 BSA and Disabled Vets commems that were also thought to be huge hits by many on this site. Unfortunately those 2 comems aren't doing as well as many predicted.

I'll get 1 or 2 sets, but I don't have internet access all day long. I have to get some outdoor work done.

October 7, 2011 - The U.S. Mint has re-set the price of the Proof Silver Eagle at $58 & change, and the Silver Eagle Uncirculated (W) at $50.00 & change. This may bode well for the upcoming set, maybe. Fact, the U.S. Mint sold approximately 194,000 Silver Eagle Uncirculated (W) before price suspension, for $60.00. That is nearly a two-million dollar profit. That is the overcost for those who purchased at the higher rate.

I bought at the higher rate but OK they got me for a few bucks. I'm hoping that the 25th anniv. set gets priced at the present low silver spot price.
Or is that asking too much from the greedy US Mint? I'd like to buy 2-5 sets, depending on the total limit of sets, the limit of the Reverse proof, and the coin that's being included in the 5 coin 25th anniv. collection.

Is the 27th the day of importance, when we can order?

I'd appreciate a PM or email when someone I know, knows when. Or even someone I don't know, letting me know when.
