Just wanted to give everyone a quick heads up that the US Mint has posted release dates for the next two 2011 America the Beautiful Five Ounce Silver Uncirculated Coins. In this regard, according to the US Mint’s Scheduled Products Listings the Glacier National Park Coin will be released on 10/25/2011 while the Olympic National Park coin will be released 11/29/2011. Interestingly enough, however, many Mint products containing silver remain “temporarily unavailable for product repricing.” Given the delay in repricing, I believe it is the Mints’ intention to process and ship all orders of the “temporarily unavailable” products before they reprice any of the products. Moreover, any repricing done will probably be a few weeks after the last shipment of “temporarily unavailable” products, so that the grace period of returning an item (i.e. one week) would have run out by then. In other words, I think the Mint is trying to limit any possible returns on these items, so that their return center is not flooded (with people returning the higher priced coin, and then purchasing the same coin at the new lower price). While I do understand that the US Mint is a “business” operated by the US Treasury (which is under the Federal Reserve and thus owned by private banksters), and as such it is in their best interest to make a profit – I can’t help but feel angry that they might be playing the above mentioned repricing “game”. However, I did agree to purchase the products at the currently listed prices at the time, so I guess this is a case of “you pay your money and you take your chances.” *Looks at the last two paragraphs* Eh, don’t mind me I’m just venting.
I understand your anger/frustation though the U.S. Mint is like any other business out there trying to make a profit. Do I agree with their tactics? No, at all. Just like everyone else we (referring to people) want to buy things at the lowest possible price. If you think that will tick you off lets not talk about stores having "sales" or using "coupons" lol
You might be reading too much into the repricing "delay". I don't think they can reprice these items that quickly even if they wanted to. They have to be published in the Federal Register, and previous repricings took at least a week. If you already ordered, it's just like if you bought from an online dealer like Apmex or through ebay: you lock in your price when you place the order.
I'll return it as soon as I get it. Since they're lowering the price, it will probably be available on the secondary market for less, if I miss reordering it from the mint. Like dealers are doing, they could be waiting to see if silver shoots back up before lowering prices.
