I have both the Wolf and Grizzly Bear 1 oz coins. Does anyone know what the other coins in this series will be, and when the Canadian Mint will release them?

I have looked for info on the next release, but nothing official to be found that I can see. I absolutely love these coins, and am also eagerly anticipating the next in the series. Not too long ago I was talking to a dealer on the phone who said they were betting on the next design to be a moose or a salmon.

The plan is to release 6 coins over 3 years. The timberwolf was released in September 2010, the grizzly in March 2011, which would target September for the next one.

Hi Dave92029, My understanding, after asking a lot of collectors both from the U.S. and Canada is that #3 is going to be either 1) the Moose or 2) the Caribou. BUT any answer at this point is hear-say. The Royal Canadian Mint is keeping ALL the releases a TOP SECRET until about a week before release which is supposed to be mid to last week in September. I look at it like this--The RCM did a FANTASTIC job on both the Timber Wolf and the Grizzly so I would imagine the same for the last 4 coins no matter what they may be. Now what animals including birds have been on Canadian coins over the years? I can remember the Beaver, Goose, several Antlered species, and Salmon. Anyone else care to throw in any others? Does anyone else have the 2006 Canadian Timber Wolf 1/2 oz. Buillion with the exact same design? They only made a little over 106 THOUSAND of them! I am so glad I bought 2 back ten! Hope to see some more animals listed!!

Since they have already done 2 of the larger animals, I will go with the beaver (national animal of Canada) or the wolverine. Also, I have a couple of the 2006 Timber Wolves I would sell, if someone is interested. I paid about $35.00 each for them. Obviously, that's way above spot, but they are pretty hard to find.

Didn't they use the Beaver on the nickel?

Just picked up good examples of the wolf and bear so I guess I'm looking to complete the series now...even if I must include a yak poo! Yick!

Also, almost settled for some odd water markings (milk spots?) on the wolf, until I had the dealer look for better inventory. That dealer said they get a lot of these in like that due to (possibly freeze related) moisture invasion of the packaging in transit from the deep dark north.

Yes, the beaver is on the nickel. Also, the caribou is on the quarter and the polar bear is on the 2 dollar coin. I don't know if that will preclude them from being used again though. The timber wolf was used on the 2006 coin and then brought back again for the 2011 coin. In any event, it is an interesting program and will be fun to see what the remaining coins will be.

I think they are much more interesting than coins which are primarily struck with the same old, same old images of dead politicians and war-related subjects.

I think Sasquatch might be a good choice. I would buy it.

Which dealer will probably offer these Wildlife Series Silver at the lowest price including shipping? Thanks

I purchased the 2011 Timber Wolf from providentmetals.com and the 2011 Grizzly Bear on ebay. Both were decently priced, but this was when they first were released, so the rarity factor hadn't set in yet. Also, www.gainesvillecoins.com has very competitive pricing, but their shipping is typically more than ebay or Provident Metals.

I'm thinking the musk ox would be a bit more likely than a yak..since it is protected in Canada.Just sayin'

As far as I can tell APMEX is the only place online that isn't sold out of these. I happened to find a couple Grizzlies today at a show, but the dealer said they were getting hard to find, and they aren't seeing any Timberwolves around.

I'm hoping the 3rd coin is announced soon. It should be coming out next month if they stick to the 6 month mark. Since I'm only picking up .9999 silver from here on this will be my ideal next purchase.

As a fan of them, and as someone who has had one as a pet 15 years ago and is going to try to get one again next year, I must ask, what about the North American Red Fox? If that coin comes out, I'll buy that one or a few of them, but I'm not really interested in a series. My Red Fox was stinky (Its a known fact that foxes are the seventh stinkiest animals in the world), but she was friendly if you didn't corner her or tick her off. In fact "Vixey" let me hold her while I watched the WHOLE movie "the Secret Garden" without squirming or trying to get away even once during the movie, and I was amazed at that.
