Does gold plating affect silver melt value?

Thanks for the good info, all. @ Lon Chaney - Midwest Refineries is in Waterford, MI. Just thought you might be near there. They are one of the larger smelters in the country. But apparently they are too big to answer email questions regarding gold plating on sterling silver.

Fyi, I was raised in Ann Arbor and still go back to see my folks occasionally. But Portland and the Northwest is a great place to live. My only gripe is they rarely have coin shows here and paper money shows -- never.

Ah, well I'm not too awful far from Waterford, but it's definitely not right around the corner. I'm actually fairly close to Ann Arbor, 20 min. away or so.
