Uhh i know this thread wont produce anything worth looking at but i just wanted to vent about this pet peeve of mine. Dont you guys just hate it when your looking through spare change and you find like a 1965 quarter or dime, or even a 1946 nickel. It just really urkes me that it was ONE year off from being silver. Haha. Sorry to waste your guys time.

Here's another thread I posted in Jan. of 09. Read this. It explains A LOT. You'll understand why 65's can still be found almost daily.

What really irks me is when I go to the 7-Eleven at 4 or 5 in the morning for a cup of coffee and I spot a silvery disc on the ground 30'-50' away and when I get close I find that it is only a flattened bottle cap.

My kid feels that way when I get him rolls of cents to search for wheats and he finds a 1959. Darn, just missed it! :D

    I feel your pain.

Here is one I picked up spending a 50 dollar star that was not in the best shape.

Just missed being a radar star.

I have resisted the urge to get a felt tip marker and make it a radar

I think that the penalties are similar to tearing off the tags underneath furniture and mattresses

Oldsilver = most silver have been picked over but how about looking for varieties

    these are over looked

example - like the 1965 DDO FS-026 double die quarter these are worth hundreds
in decent shape .... so when i get any 1965 i throw it aside for a closer look ..... snowman

This doesn't bother me quite so much as finding a valuable coin at the flea market - and then turning it over and finding a huge ding, or scratches, or seeing a hole in it. Or my 1949 S Roosevelt that is almost perfect, with beautiful rainbow album toning... except for one tiny black spot on his neck...Those kinds of close calls irk me.

I used to have a job repairing and collecting from machines and rides on the east coast, when i had time to look i found between 10 and 12 silver quarters, various years, mostly 50s. I wasn't paying as much attention as i should have, i likely would have found a few more, those were just the ones i picked out when i saw them as they were being counted. Ever since that, i've figured the best way to get silver coins is to somehow get into the vending machine business. I'd like to stick a coinstar or something near a busy airport. I ended up getting 5 and 10 dollars from my grandma each for them when i needed some extra cash back then. I wondered if they were taking them out at the central bank that some of these banks get their money from. I've gotten 1 in change other than that (and 1 dime), here it is (i'm not sure what's up in front of his eye there):

Was thinking about this thread earlier while i was opening a bank roll and how nice it would be to see a bunch of solid color edges, i got excited for a minute because there was one but it wasn't a us quarter and wrong color, it was a 2000 bermuda quarter. That's the first one of these i've ever seen, weird. Anyone know what these are made of?
