Just ordered NP3 and look forward to the Grand Canyon (no release date as of yet as far as I know) and the rest in the series.

However, the overall out of pocket, should silver $ stay where it is would be in the $14,245 range.

    Plus all the effort. :rollling:

Which designs does everyone think will be the most sought after?
    The most visually appealing?
    The most avoided?

    Just some food for thought.

Thanks, and feel free to post Yosemite receipt numbers if needed.

Assuming equal mintages, I think the military and historical parks will be the most sought after because they have appeal across different collectors (coin and historical). Particularly the Civil War battlefields. Of the modern silver and gold commemoratives, the 1995 Civil War coins sell for a premium, while most of the others fetch about melt value.

To me, Vicksburg is the top pick. You can't go wrong with with an ironclad. Monitor tokens sell for a pretty good price, even the ones that aren't terribly rare. The top graded Gettysburg and Vicksburg proof coins are already a little harder to come by than the others.

    >>The most visually appealing?

That's hard to say. The Grand Canyon is gorgeous, but how much of that can they capture on a coin?

    >>The most avoided?

That's a tough one. I'd guess one of the territories, but even then they could make a stunning coin.

Probably the more famous national parks – like Yellowstone, Yosemite, and the Grand Canyon, but like sodude said “the military and historical parks…because they have appeal across different collectors.” All in all, it’s kind of hard to say right now so early in the game.

    The most visually appealing?
That remains to be seen… ;)

    The most avoided?
I distain the Hot Springs design…it’s so boring, but I still ordered one.

I think that the parks that exhibit natures beauty, rather than a historical site will be the most popular coins in this series. Yosemite, the Grand Canyon, Yellowstone etc. will be among the most sought after. Many people have visited these sites and, if the designs are artistic, they will sell out.

I ordered my Yosemite (NP3) late, # 3762xxx. It's backordered, but I expect to get it anyway.

Ordered one yesterday and sold it within 5 minutes. Sorry but could not see keeping it with that kind of premium added to the price.

It's the popular ones that won't go up much in value after the mint stops selling them. If anything look at what happened with the FS series. Martha Washington is one of the least expensive coins in this series because everyone bought one when it first came out. In name recognition, she has to be at the top.

  15. That is why I think Hot Springs is an anomaly in the first year and may have a chance for increased value at some point in time. I am pretty sure most people have heard of the Grand Canyon, Yellowstone, Yosemite, and even Mount Hood...but not Hot Springs. TC

I ordered my third puck within 45-minutes of the opening. I had order number 376138**. I like the first two but must agree that the Civil War battlefield coins will end up with a higher value. Of course, that will change if they increase the mintage of the 2011's.

Totally agree with you Phil on the Civil War designs, and the beauty of the Parks.

I can't wait for the "COLORIZED" plated ugly fakes to follow later... kidding...
