I just had to have this silver kilo from Homestake gold mine in South Dakota. I recently sold it when silver was at 45.00. Most Homestake silver retails for around 4 dollars over spot consistently and will bring at least 1 dollar over spot when it is time to sell. I needed some cash to buy a nice Morgan DMPL so I took this picture before it went down the road.

I really have a weakness for Mexican coinage and love to pick up these silver UN PESO whenever I can. Especially when they are gemmy! I think they are a super value to buy whenever I can get them at melt, which is usually the case because I have found that most dealers don't think much of them. What an interesting way to hold bullion compared to some slicked out Washington quarters and dimes? Oh yeah, I like those too, but I prefer this!

I know you are thinking "What is a FORK doing on my CoinTalk site?" Well, with these high metal prices it seems people need some cash more than they need their antiques. I raid the melt bucket at my local dealers and rescue some pretty nice stuff from the smelter. I was actually into Victorian and Nouveau antiques before I swung the spotlight onto coins and I love to buy this sort of thing at melt (Which my dealer likes because he is ahead if he doesn't have to pay for refining fees). Check out the lines on the Nouveau / Deco crossover spork! Anyway, this is another way for me to enjoy my investment in silver as I get to use it with my wife and family. I certainly couldn't do that with a tube of eagles. Plus, when the economy recovers, some of the premiums will return to the silverware market. JMO

Dude, I love it. I'm getting married in a little over a week and I just got to see my fiance's real SILVER ware last weekend at a shower and it's awesome. I just love silver. It just amazes me the value of the metal. She thinks I'm pretty strange because of my obsession with bank searching for silver, and she thought it was real strange how much I liked her silver ware. Neat though.

This isn't the best quality pic, but I only have a cell phone to use. These are my new recruits for 2011, most from the last dip at a couple coin shows and a couple visits to my local shop, and some at shows earlier in the year.

Timberwolves and Philharmonic picked up for $42 each (3 plastic t-wolves for $38)
Grizzlies and Kookaburras for $47 (one Grizz for $40)
Pandas for $36 (two for $40)
    Koalas and Rabbits for $40
    Buffalos for $42
    Assorted ASE's (one 1986) each for $37
Silver Bust (roll of 20) for $37 each
2008 Silver Proof Set for $73
    1964 Kennedy's at 25x face

1961-62 Franklin proof halves roll #5.jpg 1963 Proof Franklin Half Roll #2.jpg 1992 Silver Eagle Roll #12**.jpg Roll 1964 Kennedy Proof Halves #6*.jpg

A newbie to this forum, but here are pics of 4 rolls of silver coins I bought about 4-5 years ago:

First 2 pics, 2 rolls of Proof Franklin Half Dollars 1961, 1962, 1963. I paid $152 for the 40 coins. Even then, that was kind of a lucky fluke.

Pic 3, 1992 Silver Eagle Roll, paid $225 in 2006. Pic 4, 1964 Proof Kennedy Half Dollar Roll, paid $133.

    Ah, the good old days......

    I have:
    $1 face 90%
    $4 face 40%
    $1.75 face 35%
    $0.50 face 80% Candian
Sterling silverware heads, 6 oz pure
An 80% CAD dime and an ASE not in pic. If I have some money left over after the Teletrade auction I'll probably buy more. Should I get Koalas for $4 over spot or 40% haves for melt? The website I'm buying from pays $2 over spot on Koalas and $2 under spot for $2 under melt.

I collect silver billion coins, but not really for future investment.

Most of these were purchased between 2005-2009 back when Silver was less crazy. I have some real bargains in the mix. I purchased a heavily toned Maple Leaf for £7...$11.50. I guess the seller figured it was worth nothing because it was so heavily toned. There is a picture of it below...

I have 34* 1 Ounce coins with 2 others in the post at the time of writing (2010 & 2011 Proof Britannias).

EDDYK: Great, great acquisitions you have with those Australian Kangaroos! That carded 2008 has a mintage of just 6,800 and retails for around $150.00. The carded 2009 Kangaroo At Sunset there has a mintage of 20,000 and it too is around $150.00. The prices for coins in that series are going to the moon for sure. Got any 2007's laying around? Guy on ebay right now has one for sale and is asking $445.00.

The 2007 is the glaring one missing from my collection. I picked up all my Kangaroo coins for less than $50... except for the 2008 Proof which was about $80

    Kangaroo wise I have...

    2001, 2002, 2003, 2005, 2008, 2009 Ken Done Proof and 2009 Sunset. So 7 in total.

I'm also after the high relief proof, I let one slip on eBay the other week which sold for £56 ($92).... I forgot to bid for it. I'd have gone up to £100. Even more upsetting is the Official Website of the UK Royal Mint had them for sale for £60... but they have all sold out.

I cashed £1000 in shares a month ago to put in my back account in readiness for Olympic Tickets going out of my account... however it looks like I have been unsuccessful in my bid for tickets. Instead of putting the money back into shares, I'm going to buy some coins.

    Pre-2008 a 1oz UNC Britannia on the Royal Mint site was £16.99 ($28)... now they're £44.99 ($74). A 164% Increase! However the proof Britannias have gone from £55 to £67, only a 22% increase.
It's the same for many other proof coins, and recently I have been buying proof instead of Unc.... because I feel less ripped off.

I've just totalled up the amount of silver in my entire collection. From the Silver Pandas to the Standing Liberty Quarters the grand total is.... 51.49823 Ounces of Silver.

    NGC ATB holders

I just got back a set of ATBs that I sent to NGC for grading. I really like their holders. The incuse script on the edge is very easy to see on the NGC holders.
I sent sets to both PCGS and to NGC at the same time. NGC had this set back to me within 20 days. PCGS still has not started grading the sets I sent to them.

Heres a few pics of my humble little hoard. The red coin boxes contain mostly silver U.S. coins all in 2x2's, and I have a few graded NGC and PCGS U.S. silver coins.
