Gold purchase

I bought my first gold bullion coin today, along with some silver of course. I got a 1/20th 1996 Canadian maple. LOL I know its not much but its a start. I horded enough silver over the past few months and I think I'm gonna pick up some more gold bullion over the next few months. My question to you guys is when and what was your first gold bullion coin?

2 months ago, 1946 2.5 pesos, about .0645 of an oz. of gold.

$43 at a flea market!!

 

In 2001 I picked up 10 Gold Bullion Eagles @ $271.00 an oz. Oh to have those days back again, but the year ended with the gold price just over $276.00 an oz, that would still be allright with me. How times have changed.

 

I'm at work right now so I don't have the dates but my first gold purchase was a UK Gold Half Sovereign. My first American coin was a 1/10 oz gold eagle. Luckily I was able to buy some more gold eagle products during the last 5 to 7 years but have not bought any gold since 2009. Hopefully my finances will improve and I'll be able to start buying more gold again. I've been mostly buying silver and non precious metal coins over the years.

 

I believe it was back in 2001-2002. I bought 4 1/10 golden eagles for $30 each. I was 13 years old back then. I wish I would have bought a lot more.

 

I have a gold 2 peso in the bank. It's like 1/25th oz. LOL

 

ya fractional bullion is so small LOL. My plan is to next get the 1/10 maple 1/4 maple then the big 1 oz maple.

 

Bought a 2009 MS69 1/10th AGE a few weeks ago. Now I wish I had waited a little longer, but what can ya do!

And ya, Hyperinflation, you're right - it was a shock how small it was! I definitely plan to get a 1/4 and finally a full oz someday - a 1/10th is just so...unsatisfying. When it comes to bullion, size really does matter

 

I bought a 1/10 2010 AGE last year. Just picked up a 2011 version a few weeks back. I'm quite poor, so that's all I can get at the moment. Those 2001 prices sound outrageous compared to today. I wish I was into collecting at that time and stocked up on some gold!

My first gold purchases were a couple of double eagle saints at 83 apiece, back in 1973, I sold them for 400 each back in 1980

 

Mine was a 2001 one ounce gold eagle. I got it as a Christmas gift and sold it a few months later. I used the money to buy a new mountain bike.

The 2 peso was the first gold "bullion" coin that I ever bought-- $3.95 for 1.5 grams of gold, back in 1969.

My first piece of gold bullion was a proof 2005 1/10 Gold Eagle.

 

for me it was just last year at $1200, made an order with apmex for 5 austrian corona, 5 mexican 50 peso and 20 mexican 20 peso.

 

My first gold piece was a brilliant uncirculated gold sovereign from 1963. I paid $235 back in early 2009.

I love the sovereign design. When I was a kid and gold was cheaper, I had a half sovereign. I think it was.

I bought my first (and only) gold last year, all 2008W Gold Eagles:

1/10 oz UNC burnished
1/4 oz UNC burnished
Boxed UNC burnished set (1/10, 1/4, 1/2, 1 oz)
Boxed Proof set ((1/10, 1/4, 1/2, 1 oz)

I haven't bought any more since, given current prices.
