Yeah, home theater is one of the hobbies and the moniker is a reference to my cherished first generation Denon super receiver. Distant parallel to silver prices is that back in 2000, the top Denon was retailing ~2800. Now the top unit is ~5000. I'm priced right out of that buying market, I don't mind saying! No matter, the 5700 is rock solid to this day. Those of us with the 68's are kinda/sorta hoping those of you with better 'misplace' them somehow....yeah, fewer of those please.
Congrats, Treehugger!! I'm honestly happy for you guys...but Apmex makes me sick :headbang: I even called them today to let them know. My question was "who decided what grade coins went into each box?" Their answer was "It was completely random" But on this and other forums, the sets people are receiving are all at least within the same grading range. My set is all over the place, and it makes me sick how much less value I got for the same price paid. I thought I was buying generic Gem/Choice BU slabbed/un-cherry picked set of coins. But instead I feel like I bought a $1000 lottery ticket...and lost. Sorry Apmex, but I call BS :arguing:
GRAND CANYON MS68PL MOUNT HOOD MD68DMPL HOT SPRINGS MD68DMPL YELLOWSTONE MS68PL YOSEMITE MS68PL I was hoping for at least one 69,...but cannot complain about this quality set.
avr5700, Did ya see this post from the "ATB sets AVAILABLE $937 thread? " Apmex I just received my set from Apmex also. They were all graded MS69dmpl except for the Hot Springs and it was MS69. All state First Strike. WOW" Read more: http://www.cointalk.com/t167540-18/#ixzz1M5ZN49Ja
I agree. Some guys that are long time Apmex customers are receiving the C box with all 69's. If you have an A on your box it is 68's and BU's. A "B" on the box is maybe one 69 and 4 68's. A C is a good box yielding 69's. This is what I'm reading.
That's what I'm more or less reacting to... I probably would have fallen out of my chair if I had received that guy's set. BTW - This was my first order from APMEX, so I'm not convinced that it's a purchasing history bias based pattern.
does apmex send out tracking info, my set still shows sitting in B vault. what are the A, B and C boxes?
Do you want what's behind curtain 'A', curtain 'B' or curtain 'C'? Let's make a deal has nothing on this! I feel like I should be wearing an outlandish costume. Couldn't hurt!
someone should send them an email to let them know we know whats up, or better yet send the info to the mint. i may have to do it myself if i get an A box.
Do anyone think the Mint would get involved with this? If so, I won't hesitate calling Apmex back tomorrow :arguing:
the mint will be ****ed, someone called the mint to complain about not being able to order from apmex and from what i gather the mint was not pleased. i dont know what came of it but im sure they wouldnt mind hearing about it. so does apmex send out tracking info or does it just show up one day?
9guns, I kept checking my order status daily until it showed "shipped" Then, the next day Apmex sent out an email.
Yes I know we just ordered buillon coins, BUT at least they could've disclosed that it may not be a equal distribution. Given us a choice whether or not we wanted to receive the cherry picked leftovers. While account holders would get the gravy.
thanks, just looked again still in B vault. hopefully i get a cherry picked one for waiting till the end.
