I just got my set from Jack Hunt, I guess I should have kept it sealed but curiosity to see the coins and to also see if an invoice was in it with personnel information.
One Hot Springs in bubble wrap envelope
Grand Canyon First Strike PCGS Gem BU
    Yosemite First Strike PCGS MS69PL
    Yellowstone First Strike PCGS MS68DMPL
Mount Hood First Strike PCGS MS68PL

not bad I guess Question is to you part the set or sell as set. Maybe I'll wait and see what Dillon Gage sends.

You did well. One of a few 69PL from JH. How bad looking is the Hot Springs that they didn't send in for grading?

I haven't opened it. The PCGS Gem BU has three deep hits above the "m" in UNUM, it looks like wolverine claw marks. I'm surprised that it got a gem bu. I wonder what the PCGS BU coins will look like from APMEX?

My set from JH had the exact same as yours, grades and all.
I wonder of they just didn't grade any of the HS coins?

I just read an article that said you can resubmit these for a numerical grade. (For an additional charge). Dealers had an option of just paying for a details grade and did so to save on cost. Coins with damage were obviously sent in this way but not all coins designated BU are necessarily low grade. Look them over carefully. You can improve your return if you get 68PL or higher on the regrade, even with their extra grading charge.

I'm happy with them, but I do wish they had all been the same, either graded or raw.

Nope, I haven't heard a word from them yet. I received my Jack Hunt set but not the Dillon Gage. If anyone has received it, are they graded?

My reading of many sites and results suggest DG has the best coins.

    APMEX set received

My APMEX set arrived today. Three BUs and two MS68s. They definitely went all out on the packaging. Foam padded custom made box suspended inside another box.

Thanks! I've been wondering when they would start shipping. Yours is the first one I've seen!
They must have just got them back from PCGS. They are all PCGS I hope???

So you received 2 actually graded coins, huh?

My set from Apmex is due Tuesday. I've talked with their Sales Reps numerous times regarding the slow shipping, and every time they stated "We're waiting to get them back from PCGS".

When I originally ordered, I was told they were "in stock". But after they cashed my check it became "sent off to PCGS". My thinking was that generic slabbing should go very quick. But actual grading takes longer. What's to stop them from sending us out the MS68's and lower, therefore keeping the higher grades for themselves to resale later?

I was happy when I thought no one was really looking at the coins, just placing them into generic holders. Kind of like buying a lottery ticket...at least we all had the same chance for a few high graded coins. Now I'm not to sure.

Seems like a stacked deck to me :veryangry:

Congrats on the MS68s! Can't wait for mine to arrive now... I don't think they're allowed to keep premium coins for themselves to resell at higher premiums later - at least not if they want to be an authorized dealer of future US Mint bullion coins.

I was notified a little while ago my AMPEX set was shipped today. I'll report regarding grading and appearance when they arrive next week.

All 5 just slabbed but no grades. Comparing it to the MTB set, MTB wins. MTB's are just in air-tites.

    Sam,

By how large of a margin do you favor the MTB set?

I would say one full numeric grade on 2 coins and two numeric grades on two others. The Yellowstone coin I would concede to AMPEX by one grade. MTB's Yellowstone, looks like there is a rubbed or dulled area within the design. At first I thought it was part of the look added for affect. It was in the area portraying the erupting steam. Now I'm not sold on it. I would give AMPEX a MS65 across the board. Not bad, just not great.
