Hmmmmmm. Having sold out, Dillon Gage now "mysteriously" have some NGC graded sets for sale @ $1,159 each:

    http://www.dillongage.com/current-news/Default.aspx

I know it's still less than you could buy the equivalent 25 ASEs for, but that's a pretty blatant violation of the U.S. Mint's policy which made no mention of the APs being permitted to charge more than a 10% markup if they had the coins graded.

Must have got them on the secondary market

I like how s&h on these is under $20 but when you bought the raw set the s&h was over $80.

I wouldn't pay 1 cent over spot for those hockey pucks. As high as silver is now i wouldn't pay that either. For those interested in actually buying a set of those hideous things i would say wait till the P.M. bubble bursts. From what i have heard the quality is terrible, and in reality they are nothing more than bullion and will probably never have any numismatic value.

Prudential are the only AP with any left apart from the Dillon Gage NGC sets:

    http://www.prudentialbache.com/view/page/prubache/17214

Lots of hoops to jump through, but $862.70 per set and rumored to be $65 shipping gets you into a set for $37.11/oz.

ETA: I wasn't going to bother with another set, but just breaking that down it's $8/oz below melt. What am I waiting for?

Maybe its worth having a W9 on file.

Why do they make it so difficult? And DSD is just supposed to contact you in the mail? Isn't this leaving to much to the unknown? Im new to buying silver and this kinda stuff gets me confused.

You might want to pass on this one.

I can tell you with certainty that Prudential-Bache does background checks on those ordering these sets. Very much like those unfortunate souls who find themselves on no-fly lists for no apparent reason.

You could be on a "no buy" list.

    Not. Kidding.

I printed out everything to order the ATB's from P-B. I must say that they are making it very difficult. With silver at over $45 today, I'm also feeling it is too good to be true. What am I missing here? Should I pull the trigger? I'm not paranoid about any background check. Heck, I had a secret security clearance when in the military.

Fire that gun! If you wait, you're at increased risk of being a 'day late and a dollar short'.

I am not surprised at this price . In the beginning there were only a handful of this membership who proclaimed this issue would never hold to the original prices being paid by those who thought they were getting a good deal at $1500.00 . I'll go a step further and predict a few years from now , one would be fortunate to re-sell them at half the asking price noted in the topic of this thread. That said , I'm not without having overpaid for some items I just had to have myself. I still would not buy them at $500.00 . I'd have to say that this mint issue was the biggest U.S. Mint blunder in my lifetime, and than some.

If you looking at this as some sort of investment , put the safety lock back on that trigger . You could do better with a grand with some other coins.

What you are really saying is that bullion is not your cup of tea, and you think silver is going to crash in price. There is no other translation, because earlier you said you would not pay $500 for 25 ounces of silver (that's $20 per ounce...you would be the only person on this forum to pass that up, I can just about guarantee it).

The ATB sets are classified as bullion coins by the U.S. Mint. I happen to like the designs, however: If the 25 ounces of pure silver were crushed into one big ball, I would still like it.

I'm buying silver, not numismatic coins. This is a Bullion Investing forum, so I'm not quite following the negativity about the looks of these coins.

BTW, Prudential is processing about 100 orders per day.

No, that is not what I am saying. In fact, you have entirely misunderstood my reply.

hmmm, it's been a while since I received an ATB order confirmation from DG, but I still haven't got a shipping notice yet, and now they are working on the slabs...?

Same here. Wonder if we might get a bonus like the later Jack Hunt shipments have contained.

I got stiffed on my Jack Hunts, hopefully the ones from DG will be better... I tell you what though, i'm about to check the ol' account and may have to go ahead and jump through the hoops to get a set from Prudential... I mean at $45 an ounce that like damn near 25% below spot if my math is correct. Not sure I can continue to pass that up... Papers are printed, copy of license made... yeah I think i'm gonna do it :)

I did it today too. Wasn't really after a 7th set, but $37.11/oz shipped versus spot of $45+ is $8/oz instant profit or 21.55% ROI for writing a check and jumping some hoops. Numismatic premium or not, I like increasing my bullion holdings with a built-in cushion like that. Silver could go down almost 18% and these would still have a melt value higher than the asking price shipped.
