I'm 18 and starting college in the fall. I have some money and I would like to invest in silver. I wonder what site is the best and cheapest costing with great customer satisfaction I should look into? Also, any suggestions on what I should buy? Thank you in advance! - Philip
APMEX Northwest Territorial Mint Kitco Would recommend going to a local coin or bullion dealer. Save on shipping. Save on having to spend a minimum.
Refer to this link for Scottsdale http://store.scottsdalesilver.com/p...Our-Choice-(Free-Ship-Item)---2-Week-Estimate
If you use APMEX and you are a first time buyer you can get free shipping by placing your order via a smart phone / mobile. That's what i plan on doing. Goodluck.
might as well spread the wealth... here is a list of deals in the range of $10 under spot, for new customers, limit per household etc.. http://www.bullionstacker.com/viewtopic.php?f=29&t=3137&start=20
Start with these 2 American Silver Eagles, These normally sell for $2-4 over spot, which means right now they would cost you around $43, so your saving $10. You will really never see silver go for below spot like this. I assume the reason their doing it is because they are a Huge dealer and want new customers, and phone numbers to solicit. Not to mention this add was printed back when silver was much less. I believe this offer expires on the 15th so be quick. Otherwise, I would recommend shopping at a local coin dealer if you can, this will save you a lot on shipping and often the deals on junk silver are better than online. (and you can buy smaller quantities. If you don't have a local coin shop, reputable online dealers include apmex, and north west territorial mint. Sometimes you can find good deals on ebay, but more often than not the prices are absolutely horrible.
Would recommend going to a local coin or bullion dealer. Save on shipping. Save on having to spend a minimum.
I really like this advice. Start a good business relationship with a coin shop owner/owners and pick from their stock. You'll be able to actually touch and hold the product before buying. Oftentimes you'll get some good advice and good deals once a relationship is established. Not always in some cases, but often.
+1 .. Especially when dealing with junk silver. Most dealers will let you "cherry pick" or pick which coins you want from a huge bag. Plus most dealers will let you buy much smaller amounts of junk silver.
Yes. But as legal tender, they are $1 USD. Canadian Maple Leafs are $5 CAD and also 1 oz .999 fine rounds. In the currency wars, the CAD and USD are near parity (almost equal).
I stopped dealing with APMEX because of their very high S/H fees. As others suggested, after comparing prices on line, search out local dealers who offer what you're looking for. At a local dealer you can ask questions, hold stuff and generally get an idea of what you're buying.
Tulving is the best but minimum orders are around 25k. No shipping and handling charges. Not much higher than spot pricing.
Thanks for this. I ordered two today (April 12, 2011), so the offer is good. $66 for two 2011 ASEs and free registered shipping. The operator did ask me a couple of times if I had the ad in front of me, and I said, yes I have the code number both times. She sounded a little prickly but went ahead and took the order. But it sounded like they wanted you to have the Newmax ad in hand. I just pretended to be a little scatter-brained (which I normally am anyway...).
I have had great luck with Gainesville coins. While their variety isn't quite what APMEX's is(though it is still good) their shipping is much less. Plus, when you use the code NIAUS, it knocks another $5 off the shipping. And I like the fact that they list what year coin, etc. you are buying. I too, use a local dealer, depending on how much I am buying. The more $$ I spend, it is usually cheaper to buy online as sales tax amounts to much more than the shipping. Peter, I just checked out Blanchard. Good prices, shipping is high. Thanks for the link though.
Really? I have a local pawn shop that deals in gold/silver coins(ASE,AGE) and junk silver and always charges tax. I wonder if it is a state by state thing.
