    OH! You were serious.

This is the first I've heard of anyone basing life decisions on the minutes of an FOMC meeting.

Perhaps it is because this is a thread about WalMart and not Fox News? Also, this is a private forum and the normal rules of free speech do not apply.

Why buy from WalMart? I personally buy a lot of stuff in bulk from BJ's and Costco and when it comes to meat, well I get all of that from hunting. I get my ducks, deers, hogs and turkey for a small fee compared to buying it elsewhere. A large freezer was one heck of an investment and learning how to grow our own veggies is icing on the cake.

If anything happens, I would say we (our entire family) are well prepared. Ammunition is never ending and precious metals is backed up pretty well. Then again, many of my buddies are all like me and all have been buying silver, hunt with me, have a never ending supply of toys with bullets and are well prepared for anything if it comes. I'm not worried but I still ask "Why buy from WalMart"?

Yeah, my wife evaluates families for financial aid at a school. She sees people apply with nice homes, nice cars, and one income (wife could work) and others with two incomes, one old car, a garden that really produces food and a chicken coop in the backyard. The latter gets aid, the former may get a token. I feel for those in need and donate to local charities to support them; they are sensitive to increasing prices for food and gasoline. Many had to drop out last year even with financial aid.

Thanks to most of you who have kept this thread "On Topic". I love hearing different opinions on this subject. Coleguy has an interesting point of view. We will just have to see if Wal-mart is on its own with the inflation talk/price hikes, or if this is some kind of inflation that the Wal-mart CEO feels is coming to us all. I know Wal-mart isnt what it used to be with Sammy not in charge, but I do not think Wal-mart is just going to raise prices for the heck of it. Wal-mart is so big, Wal-mart TELLS companies what they are going to pay for their merchandise. If that company doesn't like it, Wal-mart doesn't sell their product. And that's a huge blow to most companies......I truly think inflation is going to hit big sometime. We have to pay for what we have spent!

    You're welcome.

Rising oil prices alone are going to drive up the price of any item that has to be transported - and the further it has to be transported, the more the inflationary effect will be.

Thats a real possibility. I work for a railroad and fortunately we're in a position where fuel prices haven't effected the price it costs our customers to ship. In fact, prices have decreased for them over the past five years. We've seen over 70% increases in volume because it's 1/5 the price to ship by rail than by truck now because of fuel prices. Of course, when your company owns the refineries where it gets it's fuel it helps a lot.

The part that will effect everyone regardless of how cheap the shipping is, is when fuel effects farmers on the farm level. When that farmer has to go from paying 3.50 a gallon for diesel for his combine to 4.75, no amount of cheap shipping will prevent the prices from rising everywhere.

Not to get political or anything. Just to get back to grass roots. Americans are among the most resilient of people and they will survive. They will survive. Times get tough? People adjust. They will do without if need be. Back to basics, cut the fat, do I really need this? They will survive. Prices rising for cetain production goods. Do I really need that new TV? Maybe I can make that old clunker of a car that I own go for another few years if I just do a few simple repairs and routine maintanence. I don't need a Lexus. We will survive. Faith People. We're a great nation and we will get past all this non-sense, and we will survive......:)

Overall, prices of all goods are going to take a big jump over the summer. I'm stocking up on clothing items you tend to wear out quickly like, socks and underwear. Stocking up on food and silver as well.
This news is not new. Lots of folks see this comming. People who stick their heads in the sand will be in dispair.

Well ..when you consider that you can buy the flavor packet for $.25 and you can use your own water at home ...they are making you overpay $1.72 for a gallon of water.

There really isn't any reason to raise the price when they are already laughing all the way to the bank at the consumer's expense. Some deal that is.

Keep in mind that 1 Trillion seconds is a little less than 32,000 years.
The fact that 1 Trillion fiat dollars were printed devalues our currency by approximately half.
$50.00 dollar a barrel oil suddenly becomes $100.00 dollar a barrel oil.
    Inflation...now that's trickle-down.
