US Government shut down and its effect on the precious metals market.

    gold would drop in dollars. Dollar would rise.

    Very little unless you were a "non-essential" government department worker. They were furloughed in 1995 as I recall, until an agreement was reached

    Yep! It's kind of just a show. Nothing important will really shut down. Everyone will still get their social security checks.......

    It doesn't exactly inspire confidence that we can turn the economy around if we can't even keep the doors open. My guess is that it would create increased flight to safety.

    I assure you that if the politicians were docked for each day, it would be done very quickly. IMO.

    In all fairness, I think they should get docked. The rest of the world works that way!
    Anyway, back to the subject...I don't think a government shutdown will affect the PM market near as much as the stock market.
