Agreed. Its annoying to have to go through the resellers. If they can sell all that other crap in the catalog why can't they also sell the bullion?

Oh, and count me in the list of folks who are sending away for the Jack Hunt set.

On the 2010 ATB bullion coins the mint produced 33,000 of each coin design which will be the lowest mintage of the series.

They were actually running two separate sales. One under America the Beautiful Coins and the other under America the Beautiful Bullion. The coins listing sold out first but I was able to still buy a set under the bullion listing. It was verified immediately. Now I/we will have the expense of getting them graded. This will help fix the value for selling purpose. These have become a pseudo collectors item as well as a bullion investment. I'll put them into my collection for the kids to figure out after they are inherited.

Understandable, but I'll take that bet. >:)

Various sources in forums and reputable media reported that 27000 of each 2010 coin was minted for numismatic sales direct from the mint. I believe they were actually minted and must have been minted last year to be stamped 2010.

If you look on the mint website, you'll see them listed as upcoming with 'TBD' release date. No reason to list them there at all if they didn't actually press them into existence nearly three months ago.

I'll likely end up with a set from the mint and one or more sets from the 'debacle' group. ;) There will be a difference between them: the numismatics will have a mint mark, the bullion does not. This is just what I've read of late so I'm not the last word on it. Anyway, seems to me that both sets have unusually good collect-ability.

I agree, If true, there would only be a 6,000 coin difference between the two issues of each coin.

The clock is ticking. They have to release the 2010 proofs and the 2011 bullion and proofs. Originally each coin in the series was supposed to be released independently. They may have to release the 2010 proofs now as a complete set. Otherwise there is going to be a log-jam of orders and mistaken orders if all this is released at once. Then add returns and exchanges and it could become quite messy. Trying to pay for all this will also put some strain on the buying public.

Looks like Jack Hunt is sold out now as well unless they find a few more sets after the process the current orders, looks like APMEX is the only place sitting on them now...

My money is going in the mail tomorrow at this point, can't make it to the post office in time today...

so does "assesing our inventory" mean that if we placed our orders over the weekend we have a set reserved?

Yep, APMEX is reported to have a decent stash...one that they will likely market very soon too.

    Beyond that, there is:
    http://atb.cntofma.com/ ; a phone competition of sorts...

    and

http://www.fidelitrade.com/ ; However, there's no way to be sure that placing an order with them at this point will get a set since it involves a mailed form and check. They must be close to being out by now...

    Go get 'em, boys! :O

If you have an order number, I expect you also have a reservation. That is, until you fail to send the money order within the week. At least I hope so...I sent mine in this morning - priority with delivery confirmation.

My guess would be that it's those failures to deliver payment that they are expecting to 'assess' right back into sales. Some will certainly 'turn up', but surely won't last when they do.

Well Jack Hunt and Fidelitrade both have my payments as of this morning. CNT are supposed to be shipping on Wednesday this week, and who knows when MTB will ship from their Ebay auctions. We'll see what happens next!

You are probably right. However, I have seen TBD items never come to market in the past. I took the chance because it was cheaper than if I bought 25 eagles, and because I know these resellers are hating that they have to sell them at this price...hahah.
