I have seen people mention before that bars produced by certain refiners are desirable and can command a premium. Does this Engelhard bar command such a premium? If so how much above or below spot would it be? If I wanted to sell this 1 oz. bar to an individual how far above or below spot would be a fair price to ask? The picture makes it appear to be more tarnished than it really is. Thanks, Scott
Engelhard bars do command a premium over melt value but with the current spot price being as high as it is (near $38), I would expect no more than a 5% upcharge or $40 for it.
Im not sure if its from Canada or not. I bought it at a coin show in New Orleans around 1995ish. Also the bar has been sold. I sold it for $2.00 over spot at the time.
The Engelhard Canada silver bar can command a higher premium than a regular Engelhard based on my past observations. I have also seen this Engelhard Canada silver bar sell for the same premium as a regular Engelhard silver bar.
Thanks for the info 1970. I bought the bar around 1995 for around $6. I ended up selling it for $40. Not a bad return I'd say!
