Krispy, you're very first reply was sufficient. I'm not looking for instant gratification, just why I didn't get an email. But, lo and behold, I did get the email. So question answered.

The thread never veered off, your OP ended implying blame for poor customer service in not being notified, when you already knew your payment had arrived by parcel tracking confirmation. You incorrectly suggested that FideliTrade was unfairly holding your money, which I informed you they were not. You then went on to prove how impatient you were, how quick to judge you are and how little you did yourself to find the information that was already in your hands.

You are very welcome. No poor feelings necessary...your security settings did their job by blocking a bulk email...you had no way of know that is how Fidelitrade would communicate given it is an individual application.

The FideliTrade application form requested email address. If given on the form, which it was in the OPs case, then that would be one of the primary ways they would communicate with the account holder once registered.

Krispy, are you a detective in real life or are you part of a debate team? Also, did you order from fidelitrade? I'm not going to assume you didn't, because assuming isn't nice.

    Email Yes....bulk email No

Detective: no; Debate team: no again; Ordered from FideliTrade: That shall remain private. What I am is attentive to the details of this saga/fiasco of a release, as I have been actively following this series since 2009. I have read all Mint press releases I can find about them, sought all the coin related news I can consume, forum threads I can follow, and information I can glean from others equally excited by and sharing information about these coins. I also believe in being factual and not jumping to conclusions based on speculation. Too many forums toss around rumors and really make for a negative tone in the hobby when it's so much simpler to avoid all that unnecessary heartache over coins and collecting. :smile

FideliTrade sending a blanket email rather than individual email messages was meant to streamline the process of contacting new accounts about the status of their account set up but also worked to say it was not to confirm they would be receiving a set. That speeds up processing of orders for FideliTrade. While that is obviously not spam, it unfortunately triggers the default settings of some spam filters on some email accounts, but not all experienced their email going to the trash/spam folder. If one isn't minding their automatic email filters, they are bound to miss far more than an account status update for some coins they ordered. Folks should have more prescience of mind to check that folder more frequently, especially when expecting some sort of confirmation from a new company they haven't dealt with in email before after tendering their own and babysitting their inbox for a response. It is common practice to add to ones contacts new email addresses to prevent this very thing from happening. Many enewsletter subscriptions and service providers often include reminder messages to do this. Anyway, the point about email is moot. The OP did not do everything he could have done prior to posting what led to the length of this thread.

How was I supposed to know that my correspondence from FT was sent to junk mail? Making my original post eventually led to howboutatrade letting me know to check my junk folder. So, I did do everything I could have done prior to posting. Isn't that what this forum is for.....asking questions and (eventually) getting answers?

You may not have known how your spam filter would have handled an unrecognized email address from FT, but you also did not add 'Fidelitrade' to your email contacts list to prevent this from happening after tendering your own email address to FT and expecting to receive an email confirmation back from them. Further you did not check the trash/spam folder on your own before starting this thread, therefore you didn't do everything you could have done prior to having others suggest you try this. The point of this is that you didn't only ask that question but went on to incorrectly bemoan this issue as reasoning for not wanting to order from this company again in the future, which was wholly the wrong conclusion to draw from your own inaction and apparent obliviousness about many aspects of things related to this order process.

"Isn't that what this forum is for.....asking questions and (eventually) getting answers?"

Yes, it is partly what these forums are for, however, incorrectly suggesting that it was the business who was at fault which should cause you to take your business elsewhere, thus giving the company a bad rep, is not what these forums are for, especially when you were the one at fault for suggesting that before you got the answer to your question(s).

Krispy makes sense. It is very common to have things end up in the spam bucket that do not belong there. Not checking before posting was an error on the OP's part.

Okay...so the OP is not a tech junkie that understands the ins and outs of email spam filters....that is education and fine.

Krispy does make a point about the blame issue. Our country is very good at this as a whole. We need to remember when pointing a finger at someone, there are three pointing back at you. I have found this ratio of 3:1 about right on the blame front. It is a much higher probability that an individual is to blame...companies are nothing more than sets of individuals and in most cases make a rational decision based on improved efficiency (i.e. maximum revenue for lowest cost...the nature of a capitalist business). This does not make them evil, greedy, or shameful...doing things illegally or against previously agreed upon terms...that is a different discussion.

I've placed bullion/coin orders with APMEX, Provident, Casper's, Modern Coin Mart, Cheap Slab Store, Collectons, and several more. I've never had to search for any correspondence from them in a junk folder before. None of them are my contacts either.

There's always a first time. And just like investment advice, 'past performance should not be used as an indicator of future performance'. ;)

Now I am offended - I mentioned the junk mail folder first, then howboutatrade steals my thunder!! Just kidding! Yeah I have done business with APMEX etc. and this is definitely the first time I can recall a confirmation going to junk but oh well. Glad you got it sorted out.

On another side note I would like to add that I think Fidelitrade has done pretty well with this release thus far considering all of the controversy around these. Hopefully I'll hear from them soon regarding my reserved set ;)

Sorry about that. Thanks for being the FIRST :) to mention the junk folder. You are both smarter than I.

Yeah, I'd definitely prefer the collector version, just don't think I'll have an entire day to devote to being on the mint website waiting an hour for every page to load. Then again, I may just make time ;)

    Hahaha :)

By chance did anyone else get a second confirmation email? It is an exact duplicate of the one I recieved earlier, when I saw it I got all excited that it might be a confirmation that I would get a set but no dice! Keeping fingers crossed!

+1 Yeah I'll be on the site, may even take a day off work for it! :D
