Can someone who had bought from Gainesville using wire fund explain to me how this works. Can I send them a wire without actually opening an account?thanks

Unfortunately, CoinTalk is not officially a Gainesville Coins customer service representative.

Fortunately, Gainesville Coins has LIVE help enabled on their web site.

Additionally, Gainesville Coins customer service representatives are standing by on the phone to answer your questions.

I don't know why you would want to do that, but it can't be done. Wire fees are expensive to begin with. If there is something you wish to purchase , simply call them and place your order that way. Are they requiring a wire transfer for the purchase of the ATB's pucks ? I think you need to be a registered customer with them. first.

From Gainesville Coins' web site: Help / FAQ page:

Yes, it can be done. Regardless of what it costs to use this form of payment, that is up to the buyer to decide for their own personal reasons. One such reason may be that some people simply do not wish to set up online accounts leaving personal details here and there on the internet, especially if the transaction is a one time or first time purchase with an unfamiliar dealer or they have experienced issues with identity theft.

Never used them before. Surprised they don't accept cashier's checks. I used to purchase stuff that way and never had a problem. It's a little slower but I think it's safer. A bank can stop a cashier's check, they can't stop a wire.

I just briefly read their policies. Wire transfers are how they handle international orders, which is understandable. Domestic orders and payments are handled differently.

I'd use a personal check, Cashiers Check, or Money Order instead of a wire transfer. My bank charges $20 for a wire transfer but only $5 for a Cashiers Check.

For large amounts (over $1,000) I prefer a Cashiers Check. $1,000 or less and Money Orders work great and are cheaper yet. I'd call Gainesville and see what forms of payment they accept. Personal checks require time to clear but are usually accepted without any fees whatsoever.

You can wire money to anyone with an account that will give you the information needed to do so.
Some can do it for free and some pay fees. Not something that most folks would ever need to do.
