Some of those prices are over the top. They won't be getting me to cough up $300.00 for one of them.

don't be stupid to buy more than $170.00 for bullion version (no mint mark). unless those were numismatic items or collector's version with a mint mark P.

Just who is coinbuster and what assures him of getting enough coins for resale. I'm sure he is not a mint dealer or distributor. He doesn't have an established or very long tract record which a mint dealer should have. I would be a little concerned that he might take the money and run.

I have looked forward to buying these all along. It is good to finally get some answers. I was one who did not like the fact that the few bullion dealers would control the market on these (because or the low mintage-100,000). Of course now it will be lower yet but we will have the option of buying a collectors version from the mint, which I think is good.

I bought a Lincoln chronicles set from the mint for $52, imagine if they had sold all 50,000 sets to the network only. Then I would have likely paid $125 to $150 for my set (from a network dealer). I believe the case for these is similar. The $52 price was well over double the bullion value and I don't hear many complaints from people who bought them.

The worst part is the fact that the new 5oz collectors versions will be such a low mintage that some will not get them. I planned on buying them from the start and I still plan on it, sounds like an instant winner. You can bet that all the people that made fun of them before will being dying to get in on this product.

    My opinion only,

    Lack

I really like your Avatar! The Hiawatha Belt is a very nice reverse.

Re: Pricing - the 2010 issues will all be very low mintage (by modern standards). I hope the mint's distributors don't gouge too much but with so few available this year, $170 sounds very low. I'm hoping they go under $200/ea but it's starting to look like $250/ea from here. : (

One of the mint's 10 U.S. distributors (The Gold Center in Springfield IL) already has their entire allotment of 2010 5ozers sold!

You can pre-order through Gainesville Coin at this time but they don't have pricing listed yet.

  10. I have a funny feeling that the 5 ounce silver coins will be showcased on Day 6 of the 12 days of Christmas Holly Jolly Merry Bullion deals at Apmex. Stay tuned on Monday. :smile TC

LOL! Funny one TC. Bet you're right. ;)

  12. Thanks for that info. I called them and they do not have pricing info yet with only one business left before release! If you pre-order, they will simply call you when they have pricing/more info. Let the games begin. :D TC

  13. I hope Dave McCarty sees my post and sends me one on the house for the marketing tip. :goofer: :D :hail: TC

Why would anyone pre-order anything without knowing what the cost is going to be ?

It's not a binding arrangement with them. If they call and the pricing is too high I'll pass on ordering.

Okay if you say so. I've never heard of a business taking pre-orders , that are not legally binding . In any event their cost will more than likely be at least 35% over the Mints price. I'll take my chance with the mint.

If they're 35% over no way I'll buy. Here's the confirmation email from Gainesville Coin:

Mint subscriptions are the same. We never precisely know up to the last days what new products may cost, especially those gold and platinum precious metals products which follow an ever fluctuating pricing schedule according to market moves.

It's quite common place to pre-order many limited edition items for which demand is/may be high. Books, prints, records, event tickets... et al.

Also, Apmex had product alerts for these items for several months already.

Well, thats a first for me. I don't see how they can't afford to markup the issues by at least 35%. So that leaves me out, even if I could pre-order no-strings. I'll be sure to watch for their selling price when them do become available.
