I had an opportunity to pick up some modern commem's in their mint capsules for near spot ($18.99). Nothing fancy with the packaging, but I get to sample some collectibles as well as invest in some silver. I'll post some pic's when they arrive. Not sure what I'll get.

Sounds fun! Purchased sight unseen I take it from your description? Any ideas which commems these will be?

  4. Where did you find them that close to spot? TC

I've been looking at modern commems for investment purposes for a while now. I really doubt they will ever be a huge hit with collectors, unless this current trend continues to the point of people melting them in large quantities.

Sight unseen is indeed correct Chris. The description was "proof/uncirculated commem's. Our choice" In capsules, and I'm assuming mint capsules, '83 on up. Could be anything. Just havin' fun......:)

Why at our favorite online place TopCat. :) Mintproducts.com. Got an e-mail from them that they were running a 5% sale on certain items. Commem's was included, so I checked it out and saw the offering. Heck, figured I couldn't loose. Collecting and investing at the same time....and for a decent price to boot. :)

That could change 'tapper. Lot's o' new blood entering the hobby with collection directions goin' everywhere. With the current trend of sending everything off to the melting pot, we could be lookin' at some real rarities in the future...:)

That is a very interesting thought. I am one to welcome change to our hobby!
I guess even as silver continues to climb, we could still be in a buyer's market.

Looks like you cleared them out! They are out of stock... not to worry though, 'for a few dollars more', one can head over to Provident metals for a similar deal, one that fluctuates with the daily market pricing, not necessarily as good as your deal. :thumb:

I'll post some pics later today Chris. I'm satisfied with both the condition of the pieces and the selections they sent me. Looking back, the price I paid wasn't too shabby......:)
