That won`t happen for a long, long time. Too much demand on both an industrial and investment level. Throw in what I call the "China factor," and We might not see the ceiling for years. China recently allowed its citizens to own silver and they have seen the demand for silver jewelry increase vastly. (Due to gold remaining historically high) China requires silver for many of the electronics and simple switches that it manufactures too. We might not know when silver will be at its peak, but as long as China is a global force.....silver will be strong. (not to mention the various other factors that favor silver) : )
There's a lot more gold stored in U.S. vaults than just at the Fort Knox - Bullion Depository, especially that belonging to private and commercial owners and governments from all over the world, kept at the New York Federal Reserve Gold Vault in lower Manhattan. The link above opens an informational PDF from the NY Federal Reserve. It is a 24 page document from 2008 with photographs that, "Unlocks the mysteries of gold, highlights its legendary past, and reveals the work-a-day operations of the New York Fed's gold vault." Despite Record Gold Prices, Your Holdings May be Worth Less Than You Think from etfdailynews.com [10/14/2010]
My crystal ball is still broken, but I would point out one thing. Prices for PM's in a correction are usually quicker to go down than they were to go up. Just keep that in mind for those of you waiting for the peak to sell. Selling at a peak is a skill very few have. If you think we are nowhere near a peak, then fine, just keep this in mind if you are shooting for selling at the peak. Very likely you will have little time to react once a peak has come. I am lucky I was going to sell silver at $20 but got lazy and didn't go to my safety deposit box yet. I am still undecided what to do right now, since it shot through $20 pretty quickly.
Just holding my silver waiting until I can sell all of it for one big price and get some key dates to fill a album or two
same here the only times i buy junk silver is when i find it really cheap or coin searching other than that i do not pay for the actual price for silver .
Exactly the elections will decide if silver goes up or down silver will probably go north and keep going higher right up to november 2nd then when it hits november 3rd and another different party controls congress it will drop if it doesn't drop and there is a new party controlling congress then the people who sold lots of silver will look like idiots but if it drops to $20 or so thebn the sellers will be looking smart
I smell a big correction in the making with the prices. Gold would probably go sideways a little and drop a little NOV-JAN 2011, and then slowly gain again. One year chart speculation. Silver will probably trail gold a little closer now, since many small time investors dabbling in metals may not be able to buy as much gold as they want, but silver is still relatively under the radar, but coming out more in to the light as a viable alternative. I just have to keep reminding folks around me, previous charts from 20 years ago don't indicate future performance, although if you think about it, all it can do is go up if you hold long enough. I do expect a heavy NOV dip though. People around election times always seem the most optimistic.
Just adding a link to a recent editorial piece written on gold and the US Bullion Vaults at Fort Knox and the NY Federal Reserve Gold Vault: Uncle Sam’s Mysterious Hoard from The Atlantic [November 2010 Issue]
Okay Silver is at $25 would it be smart to wait until Wednesday and hope the price comes down because of the elections or has the market priced it and silver will keep going up even after wednesday if anyone can give me an answer I would be very happy to hear it
If I could predict the day trading, I would rule the world. Me, I am selling on Monday and then seeing whether or not to sell more after that.
okay thanks I guess I will try and find some silver today at the banks and sell some but at the same time Im going to invest some big money since I figure silver is just going to keep going up.
